The Stannary is a beautifully detailed apartment with exceptional attention to detail and little touches that set it apart. It is centrally located in Helston, offering easy access to local amenities and a short walk to affordable parking. Guests have praised the property's cleanliness, spaciousness, and the provision of welcome packs and toiletries.
Most guests found the apartment to be clean and well-presented, though there were a few mentions of dust and a less than satisfactory state during a repeat visit. Overall, the standard of cleanliness is high, with isolated incidents of oversight.
The central location is convenient for exploring Helston, but it comes with the downside of noise from traffic, local venues, and a town hall clock. While ideal for those looking to be in the heart of the town, light sleepers may find the noise levels challenging.
The apartment offers a high level of comfort with quality bedding and a big bed, though comfort is compromised by external noise on weekends. There is no mention of the comfort of other furnishings, so the score reflects the mixed feedback.
Facilities are generally good with a super shower and thoughtful inclusions, but there are reports of maintenance issues such as a problematic TV and a cupboard door falling off. The bathroom fan and cooking equipment were also noted as basic or inadequate.
Guests have appreciated the thoughtful touches like welcome packs, toiletries, and pampering kits. However, as these gifts are subject to change and not guaranteed, they should be considered a delightful bonus rather than an expectation.
This well-presented, first-floor apartment rests in the town centre of Helston, a bustling town serving as a gateway to the Lizard Peninsula. Boasting a contemporary finish throughout, this bright and airy apartment is ideal for couples or a small family looking to experience the charm of Cornwall. After a day of exploring, be welcomed into the open-plan living space, with a choice of taking over the kitchen or settling down on the sofa and tuning into the Smart TV. Wander through to the bathroom, wonderfully appointed with choice of bath and shower over so you can best decide how to freshen up. When night falls, retire to the double bedroom to catch up on your sleep, whilst there is also a single for a little one. Helston is full of fantastic amenities including the popular 15th century Blue Anchor Inn, boasting its own skittle alley, live musting and an on-site brewery where you can taste local ales. If you fancy a day on the sand, take a short drive over to Porthleven and explore the beach, perfect for bathing on the sands, paddling the shores or catching your hook of the day. Continue your adventure to Falmouth, a lively town with much to see and do, famed for hosting the National Maritime Museum, Pendennis Castle and Swanpool Beach. Those looking to get their steps in will enjoy scenic trails along the Porthleven Beach Cliffs, whilst the beauty of the Lizard Heritage Coast is not to be missed. The Stannary is a wonderful spot for a Cornish break, all year round.
Helston is located at the western entrance to the Lizard Peninsula, a sizable downland region bounded by a breathtaking coastline. Helston is a charming, bustling market town known for the Flora Day Festival and the unique Helston Folk Museum, which tells several tales and traditions surrounding the "Furry Dance." The Poldark Mine, one of the best underground experiences in the south west, is close by and provides information about the region's long mining history. On the Helford River, in a serene environment, is the National Seal Sanctuary, where watching seals frolic and eat provides hours of amusement. If you enjoy adrenaline-pumping thrills, Flambards theme park will keep you occupied all day long and also offers fantastic living history experiences. Hoover also stank of dog. Master bed had numerous dog treats left under it. Maintenance man there several days but no communication - we had to dodge dynorod & the entrance left with a bin over where the floor had been taken up & the smell of raw sewage for 3 days. Noise from the high street was horrendous from the various bars & nightclubs Thursday - Monday which was then taken over by traffic noise & delivery lorries. Had the door buzzer pressed by drunken people passing by during the early hours. Had to purchase earplugs but even with these , we had little sleep. Flat was very warm but couldnât open the windows due to all the noise outside. Fan in bathroom isnât powerful so after showers , the room is wet through. Tv in front room is very temperamental Basic cooking equipment. Car parking also horrendous - an extra expense after an overpriced & disappointing accommodation.

For everyone else, the combination of a busy road junction, the Town Hall clock opposite chiming every hour, and carousing drunks until about 3am on Friday and Saturday nights is likely to severely impact on the ability to sleep. The property desperately needs double- or triple-glazing. The listing stated that parking was free overnight at the nearby car park and £2 per day - in reality it is now charged 24/7 at £4.60 for 12 hours.

The apartment was not is a clean state, there was lots of dust on top of picture frames, four frames, skirting etc. there were marks on the walls as if a fizz pop had exploded and the bathroom had been âsurfaceâ cleaned but when sat in the bath and looking up the shower & poles were dirty. When I went to put a wash load on, the cupboard door fell off because it was only attached by a magnet and the door had come away from the door hinges. As we were worried this would fall off and injury our daughter or our dog, my husband went to the DIY shop over the road and bought things to fix it with. On another note, it would be helpful to have the address and postcode of the apartment clearly stated in the handbook in the section about where the nearest hospital etc is. My husband had a stroke on the Tuesday morning whilst eating breakfast and when I dialled 999 I was unable to find the information needed. Thank you. Eve Andrew
