Guests say

Guests have praised 4 Miller's Island for its peaceful and tranquil setting, surrounded by nature with a private hot tub and wildlife visitors. The unique layout and bright living areas provide a cosy retreat. While some guests mentioned issues with cleanliness and outdoor maintenance, these were balanced by the enjoyment of the lodge's privacy and the friendly staff at the on-site facilities.

Cleanliness has received mixed reviews. Some guests found kitchen items and outdoor furniture unclean, affecting their experience. However, others described the accommodation as very clean, suggesting inconsistency in cleaning standards.

The location is highly praised for its peacefulness, natural surroundings, and wildlife, contributing to a serene holiday experience. The isolated setting is appreciated despite the distance from parking.

Comfort is well-regarded, with guests enjoying the cosy layout and the addition of blinds for extra cosiness at night. The master bed was specifically mentioned as comfy, enhancing the overall comfort level.

Facilities are generally good, with a hot tub and on-site restaurant mentioned positively. However, some outdoor maintenance issues like unclean decking and non-working lights were noted, suggesting room for improvement.

The welcome pack and box of consumables were appreciated, indicating thoughtfulness. However, as not all reviews mention gifts and there's no guarantee of such extras, this score reflects the positive mentions without setting expectations.

Lanreath is a village in southeast Cornwall, five miles west of Looe. Lanreath is rural in character with a local shop and Post Office as well as a parish church. There are a number of ghost stories associated with Lanreath. The best-known features a ghost in black driving a coach pulled by a headless horse. Nearby Pelynt is home to a parish church, a number of local shops and pubs, especially the Jubilee Inn, which was an original farmhouse dating back to the 16th Century. Looe is Cornwall’s second largest fishing port and hence there is always a lively maritime bustle around the quay area of East Looe, which is connected to the quieter West Looe by a seven arched 19th century bridge over the River Looe. The sandy Looe beach adjoins the pier and is very popular with families because of its safe shallow swimming and vast expanse of sand. Polperro is a little further away and is a historic fishing village nestling at the head of a long valley leading down to the sea. With plenty of areas to visit, Lanreath is a quiet, pleasant place offering easy access to the coast, the moors, National Trust properties and Cornwall's famous gardens.

Best of everything you could ask for. Comfort, relaxation, cleanliness and first class services. On sit pub/restaurant that offers everything you could ask for. Bar staff are so warm and friendly you feel as if your in your local. Deco, food and drinks are superb. Highly recommend. We will be back.

We got hit with a storm on this occasion and loved every minute. One drawback was the parking which is some distance away especially packing for 4 days but you get the benefit of it being completely isolated. I did worry I would find a tree had fell on my car with the winds but luckily avoided that, plenty of large branches fell along the path which I cleared. The lodge itself was perfect, completely different style layout to what we have had previously but it worked well and was our favourite one so far. The hottub was lovely and the balcony surrounding the lodge was the best so far. Didn't get to use much of the outside due to the weather but we had already planned for it to be cosy and away from the world. Again the lodge contained everything we needed in order to cook everything we took. The restaurant on the Saturday was quite nice but very limited being out of season. All in all this has been our favourite break and lodge so far and I would definitely book this one again in the future. Only downside is we like the fish in the lakes, they usually come to greet you and say hello but they must have been busy doing fish stuff. Multiple squirrels instead on the decking which we fed and entertained us. Perfect getaway, thank you.

The layout was great, big space for 4 of us, hot tub was excellent and had everything you could want for a week away. Blinds have been put up on side windows which was extra cosy at night which had been previously mentioned. Now the not so good point..... cleanliness. Several items in the kitchen were dirty, bowls, cutlery & plates. The table placemats were filthy with dried food on still too. The decking area, outside windows and outdoor furniture were also grubby looking and dirty. Couldn't use any of the seating or the hammock. Needs a good jet wash and removal of bird poo/cobwebs off of seats and windows. 1 outdoor light by hottub was also not working. Would return though again
