9 Stonerush Valley in Looe, Cornwall, is a lodge that offers a tranquil and relaxing experience, with many guests praising its peaceful location, wildlife encounters, and the addition of a hot tub. The property's kitchen is well-equipped, and the staff are noted for their friendliness and attentiveness. While some guests have highlighted areas for improvement, the overall sentiment is positive, with many looking forward to returning.
Cleanliness received mixed reviews, with several guests satisfied, while others noted issues such as mould, mustiness, and a need for a deeper clean. The property seems to be well-maintained overall, but there are indications that certain aspects could be improved to enhance the guest experience.
The location is highly praised for its tranquillity and natural setting, with wildlife and a stream adding to the serene atmosphere. The lodge's secluded feel and proximity to local attractions are appreciated, although some guests mentioned the challenge of narrow access roads.
Guests find the lodge comfortable, with cosy sofas, comfy beds, and a wood burner adding to the comfort level. However, some guests mentioned issues with blinds and early morning light, as well as the need for more powerful jets in the hot tub.
Facilities are generally well-regarded, especially the hot tub and well-equipped kitchen. Maintenance issues were raised, such as the need for updates and repairs in certain areas. The on-site restaurant received compliments, enhancing the facilities' rating.
The staff's thoughtfulness is evident in gestures like leaving balloons and bubbly for a guest's birthday. However, such gifts are not guaranteed and may not be a consistent experience for all guests. The overall approach to guest service is seen as considerate and accommodating.

Lanreath is a village in southeast Cornwall, five miles west of Looe. Looe is Cornwall’s second largest fishing port and hence there is always a lively maritime bustle around the quay area of East Looe, which is connected to the quieter West Looe by a seven arched 19th century bridge over the River Looe. The sandy Looe beach adjoins the pier and is very popular with families because of its safe shallow swimming and vast expanse of sand. Polperro is a little further away and is a historic fishing village nestling at the head of a long valley leading down to the sea.

We chose this lodge as the hot tub is under cover and can be accessed directly from the living room (next to the wood burning stove). Handy hooks were in the right places for robes. We picked up some wood from a petrol station (remember to also get firelighters & kindling), as the stove really made the lodge cosy, this was even serviced during our stay, Sally made sure this was convenient for us. The lodge was very clean (thank you housekeeping) and would say if staying for a week, you only have enough washing up liquid for a couple of days, the same with shower gel etc so bring extra. We had a Waitrose delivery which made life very easy. We did pop down to the restaurant a couple of times, although a small menu, Amanda is so welcoming and is really on the ball with dietary restrictions. The grounds are very well kept and our dog had a lot of fun, we were not overlooked and there is plenty of space between lodges. lots of wildlife, rabbits, squirrels, birds of prey, pheasants, herons - Thanks again to Amanda for recommending the Merlin bird app. Would recommend Sarah's Pasties in Looe (they also do gluten free), Inkies Smokehouse at Golitha falls is a great visit (25 mins in the car), Seaton is great with dog friendly beaches, also Talland Bay is a lovely cove. Would recommend flip flops for going in and out to the hot tub (avoids slips). Also bring your own ice, as no ice trays in the freezer. the wooden table set outside is a little green and just needs a refresh (we have had a lot of rain this year), but there is also a plastic rattan patio set. The hot tub was regularly checked and maintained, just remember to put the lid on when you are finished for the day. If you need anything contact Sally, she kept us informed with regular email updates and helpful information. We really needed a relaxing break as its been a difficult year, and this was certainly what we got. Not a big menu in the restaurant and check for opening times, perhaps restricted as later in the year but plenty of options within a small drive. We brought citronella candles and did use them, as backing into the woods and near water, only a few midges but this sorted the problem. Only gripe would be that the lodge is lovely and light but no black out blinds in the bedrooms, did have blinds but not as effective (we are easily woken). Will bring a sleep eye mask next time as not a deal breaker.

We enjoyed our stay at Stonerush lakes. The property was amazing and the staff polite and very helpful. We would definitely stay again.
