Talland House is located right in the middle of the harbour/ shop area. The cottage its self is spacious and has a cosy feel. I agree with previous posts that it is in need of some improvements, it does have a dated feel to it. The charm of the cottage could be maintained still with a deep clean and lick of paint, it feels that it’s not had this for some time. The clocks need batteries and the front door needs to feel a bit more secure. The patio area outside was a disappointment, it felt unkempt and scruffy which was a shame as it’s a little sun trap. The view is tatty and not of the harbour. The kitchen was well equipped for cooking etc but the oven was really slow to cook and get to heat. We didn’t use the dishwasher, washing machine or dryer. The log burner we also didn’t use but this would have been so cosy in the winter! The lounge has a smart tv to log into which was great. The electric shower in the main bedroom was fine but the other showers/bath didn’t seem to give much hot water (towels very small, take your own). The bed was comfortable and there was a good amount of hangers and drawer space in the main and second bedroom, the loft bedroom was more limited but we didn’t use this space. The car park space was a little out of the way up a very steep hill so planning the arrival and departure is key to avoid bumping into other cars on the narrow streets, this wouldn’t be suitable for those that would struggle with walking too far. Overall our stay was pleasant here, it did feel expensive £915 for 5 days but this was school holiday time, I did feel this was overpriced based on the overall condition of the cottage. I would return if the cottage had a touch up but outside of school holiday time.

Great location and a lot bigger than we expected, great to have 4 bathrooms. Could do with re painting the outside and in to brighten it up, but thats the case with most cottages in Polperro
