Guests say

Guests appreciate the property's stunning sea views, proximity to the beach, and the village's friendly atmosphere. The cottage is described as clean, light, and well-equipped, providing a cosy and warm stay even in winter. The local food scene is praised, and the property's location is ideal for exploring Cornwall. Some guests mention the need for modernisation and minor maintenance, but overall experiences are positive, with many looking forward to returning.

The property is consistently described as clean and tidy, with several reviews highlighting its spotless condition. However, a few guests noted issues with mould, which suggests room for improvement in maintaining cleanliness standards.

The location is highly praised for its proximity to the beach, local amenities, and the South West Coastal path. The village's charm and the property's sea views are frequently mentioned as highlights.

Many guests find the beds comfortable and the property warm, contributing to a cosy stay. However, some guests suggest that the furniture, particularly the sofa and mattresses, could be updated for enhanced comfort.

The property is generally well-equipped, but guests have suggested that the kitchen and shower could benefit from modernisation. There are also comments about the need for more glassware and minor maintenance issues.

Guests have mentioned a welcome package and the provision of a cream tea, which are appreciated touches. However, as these gifts are not consistently referenced, it is politely noted that such gestures, while delightful, are not guaranteed.

About this property

A light and airy cottage with lovely views and a really good base for walking, swimming and exploring the delights of Perranuthnoe. The woodburner makes for cosy evenings after days out on the beach.

This traditional end of terrace cottage, in the quiet village of Perranuthnoe between Marazion and Prussia Cove, sleeps six people and two dogs. 4 Withey Cottages has gardens at the front and back – one with a lovely patio overlooking the neighbouring countryside towards the sea in the distance. Inside, the modern lounge/diner has a wooden floor, a woodburning stove for cooler evenings and patio doors leading out onto the rear garden; whilst the well-equipped kitchen has everything needed to cook up delicious holiday meals.

Upstairs, the light and airy bedrooms all have beautiful countryside views and there is a good-sized shower room. The cottage is just a 5 minute stroll from the village and its half-a-mile sandy beach and a 15 minute drive to Porthleven and Penzance. The village of Perranuthnoe also has a church and a pub. The name is derived from the saint's name, Piran, patron saint of Cornwall, plus the name of the local manor - Uthno. The pub, The Victoria Inn, is alleged to be the oldest recorded inn in Cornwall and offers quality pub food.

The fantastic location is the main selling point of this property. Perranuthnoe is a lovely place to stay with a great beach. The property is absolutely fine but could be elevated with a bit of time/money spent on tidying the garden and replacing the garden furniture and the sofa/armchairs. 3 big bedrooms, great seaviews from 2 of them. Really nice cafe opposite.

We have stayed at this property a number of times over the past couple of years, we have noticed a general decline in standards this year. The house needs a good refurb and painting, the paintwork is dirty especially downstairs, although the house is generally clean, the beds, bedding and towels were fine. There seems to be a general lack of attention to detail, there's not a set of six of any type of glass or cup, only 2 wine glasses and one beer glass!!, the house is meant to sleep six!!. The mattress on the double bed in the front bedroom is very uncomfortable it needs replacing, one of the patio chairs is broken and was just left propped up against the wall, the garden front and back look generally unkept, the grass was cut this time but was so long in April we couldn't use the garden. We have loved staying here but the house needs some work done on it to keep it up with the standards of other properties for the same price. The positives are the house is in a lovely village with the beach, pub and two cafes on your doorstep.

The cottage is well located and is only a short walk to the beach and SW coast path. The local pub was friendly and served good quality food. Across the road from the cottage was an excellent cafe. The cottage was clean. There were some things that were not so great. The garden was overgrown and untidy, which is a real shame as the cottage has a great view and was one of the reasons we booked, but this impacted enjoyment of sitting out. The cottage has been well loved (which is fine) but some items of furniture need replacing - the double mattress in the front bedroom was thin and uncomfortable, one of the patio chairs has a broken seat and needs repairing/ replacing. For 6 people, the cottage also needs more usable glasses/ cups - one pint glass and 2 wine glasses is not enough. Overall, it was OK because of the location but I probably wouldn’t stay in this particular cottage again unless they resolve some of the issues mentioned above.
