What our customers say about their holidays

  • Dr Farrar - Verified booking

We enjoyed our stay, however some things to note - the garden is not secure with a low wall and no grass for fussy dogs, the two downstairs bedrooms smell damp, the only shower is in the en suite of a downstairs bedroom, the nice mezzanine bedroom is on the top floor and the toilets are both on the lower ground floor, two flights of stairs down, so not ideal for middle of the night toilet trips, no hairdryer, there are no curtains on some windows eg kitchen next to where neighbours park their car, so get dressed before breakfast! Biggest annoyance of all is that the car space is 5-10 min walk up the road and back on yourself down the hill again - it’s behind the property but you’re not allowed to walk down the path to the parking space as it goes through the neighbours garden - presumably the owners can go through as an access route but not guests. You also cannot use the back gate. Only the front door in and out (and back door to paved garden). Plenty of positives though - location is perfect, view is stunning, lots of birds in the garden which are a joy, free netflix was fab and coffee machine with pods supplied was very welcome, well equipped kitchen (apart from no weighing scales). I think they must have used to supply welcome baskets because some of the early guest book entries said thanks for the welcome gifts, however we got absolutely nothing other than a couple of toilet rolls and hand soap in the bathrooms and kitchen, which was fine for us. Interestingly on leaving we saw the cleaners bringing in a bunch of flowers, so maybe we didn’t get anything as we were a late-ish booking with a discount.

We stayed at Blythswood for five days. It was our first holiday-let and during these strange times, thought it the safest way of having a staycation. On arriving at Blythswood, we were delighted with the accommodation. It is immaculate throughout, bright and airy. The décor and furnishings are a delight. We had a choice of bedrooms and decided upon the “back” bedroom overlooking the well-kept and sunny garden. The linked bed is incredibly comfortable, the sheets are wonderful to sleep on (sateen cotton) and the bathroom is large having a very welcome bath and fabulous heated towel rail with lots of large fluffy white towels. The cleanliness throughout the property was very reassuring with plenty of disinfectant and anti-bacterial wipes readily available. The kitchen is well equipped with every useful gadget and appliance that you could want. Marazion itself is very pretty with a great view and in close proximity to St Michaels Mount. There are a host of excellent value pubs and restaurants (recommended to book in advance), as well as quaint independent shops, galleries and a very moreish pasty shop! It is well situated and is close to other key attractions such as St Ives, Porthleven, historical homes and gardens. Our time at Blythswood and in Marazion was very peaceful, calming and tranquil. It is a highly recommended “staycation” with excellent accommodation.

First of all Ty Bryn is just like the pictures on the website it a beautiful property and decorated to a high standard.

We loved the wood fire the kitchen has everything we needed, we couldn't of asked for better. The views from the back garden were fantastic looking out onto St Michaels Mount which is worth a visit but would recommend taking a picnic. We had a great week and got lucky with the weather, I would recommend Ty Bryn. I'd just like to point out a couple of things; The Directions say when you come from Turnpike road onto Higher Fore St Ty Bryn is before the pub on the right, but coming from that direction it is after the pub on the left. and there could do with numbers on the garage as we were a bit confused which was ours, and some details about the garage door keys would be useful, although we managed to park an estate car in there it was a but of squeeze getting out of the car but did close the garage door, it was good having the garage measurement before we went that helped a lot but some details about the keys for the garage would be useful. We don't think the tumble dryer is working, the downstairs toilet seat was broken. I would like to recommend a shelf to put in the downstairs shower, maybe I'm just fussy! but this really is a lovely place to stay and would book again. Thank you

My family of 4 only had 3 nights at Ty Bryn.

I wish we could have stayed longer. A beautiful retreat has been created by the home owner. There were scones with clotted cream and a small bottle of Prosecco left for our arrival. There is a welcome binder that has all the information needed to have an enjoyable stay at Ty Bryn complete with owners manuals for the appliances. One of the best views in Cornwall right off the veranda. Easy walk to the village for dining and the beach for sunning. Though it was high season, Marazion was far less crowded than some of the other places we day tripped to. Backing into the assigned garage with our small SUV proved to be a little challenging but my husband was able to do it without scratching the paint every time we took the car out. It was so nice not having to worry about where we were going to park after a day of exploring the Cornwall peninsula. The only disappointment was that my husband didn’t build more time into our schedule to just relax and enjoy being at Ty Bryn and Marazion.

We spent a lovely mostly sunny autumnal week at Ty Bryn and the highlight on arrival at the cottage was the view and rear garden overlooking St Michael’s Mount and the bay, fabulous!

The interior accommodation is modern and comfortable though as three tall adults of retirement age we took it in turns to sit on the lounge sofa in the evenings as the two smaller chairs aren’t really suitable for lounging in for say, watching a movie. WiFi was good, plenty of board games in the cupboard, a good range of reading books and the kitchen was great! Thank you for the very welcome cream tea and Prosecco, perfect! Everything was spotless and we used all three bedrooms, plenty of space for keeping our clothes etc though classic steep and winding cottage staircases, be careful if slightly unsteady on your feet! The wonderful balcony on the first floor had very comfortable chairs with cushions for extra comfort and again…that view!
