Guests say

Guests have enjoyed their stays at Bro Tref Cottage, praising its excellent location and comfortable beds. The property is noted for being well-kept with lovely features, and improvements to the outdoor area have been appreciated. The proximity to Newquay and Padstow is a highlight, with beautiful places to visit nearby.

The cleanliness has received mixed feedback. While no major issues were reported, some guests noted a decline in standards compared to previous stays, mentioning areas that needed attention. However, these seem to be isolated incidents rather than the norm.

The location is highly praised for being close to Newquay and Padstow, with easy access to other areas. The quiet village setting is a consistent positive aspect in the reviews.

The comfort of the property is well-regarded, with special mentions of the comfortable beds. However, there are comments about a damp smell in one of the rooms that slightly mar the overall comfort experience.

Facilities are generally good, but some maintenance issues have been raised, such as the need for better cleaning tools and a functioning vacuum cleaner. The property's maintenance, particularly the upstairs shower drainage, could be improved.

There is no mention of gifts or special thoughtful touches in the reviews provided, so it is not possible to assess this category.

There is a footpath from the village to the beach. Wonderfully presented over three floors, Bro Tref Cottage is an idyllic escape for a family of eight and two dogs looking to stay close to the attractions of North Cornwall whilst being in quiet position. Upon arrival you are greeted by an off-road parking space for one car directly outside the property, so you can easily unload your belongings. Allow the designated chef to prepare something tasty in the kitchen, fitted with an electric oven and hob, microwave, fridge/freezer and even a dishwasher, so you won’t have to worry about cleaning up! As the night rolls in, head upstairs and freshen up with a soak in the bathroom, or step into the walk-in shower for a quick rinse, before getting yourself set in the bedrooms. The light and spacious master bedroom lies on the second-floor with beautiful views, it boasts a king-size bed with en-suite shower, whilst there is a double, twin and bunk on the first-floor, each presented in neutral tones.

However you choose to plan your holiday, escape to Bro Tref Cottage for a delightful retreat, whatever time of year.

Near Newquay, in the Lanherne Valley, is the charming tiny village of St. Mawgan. A church from the thirteenth century, honouring St. Maganus and St. Nicholas, is located in the settlement. A rowing boat stern stands out in the cemetery as a poignant reminder to the sailors who perished in the area's waterways in 1846 due to hypothermia. The settlement of St. Mawgan is home to two warm inns, a welcome village store with a post office, and tea rooms. The River Menalhyl flows through the community. About two miles from St. Mawgan lies the beach at Mawgan Porth, and there is a lovely Japanese garden nearby where you can buy indoor Bonsai trees, succulents, Buddha sculptures, and wind chimes. The community is at a very accessible location since the Newquay Cornwall airport is located just outside of St. Mawgan.

The location is spot on and the village is lovely. However, this year, the house was not as clean as last year, we found butter in the microwave, and some dog poo on the gravel, ( but no worries as it was disguised and easily done, so we dealt with it). I also understand that allowing dogs is great as we brought two of our furry friends, but the resources to clean the house has gone backwards. The brush was dirty and old and although I tried to keep the floor tidy, the brush was not up to the job. Under the sink is a mess, there is so much clutter and gunge. Under the stairs is a mop bucket and mop which is smelly so adds to the aroma in the living room. The very old Dyson hoover does not work effectively, we tried to use it but the suction is limited and it has seen better days. I remember that last year there was a small henry hoover which did the job well. The upstairs shower is need of some maintenance as it doesn't drain very well. The main double room has a mouldy damp smell, but this is down to a small wooden cupboard and it is the wood which is contributing to this. Not sure how often the windows are cleaned but they were mucky and needed a clean. Outside rear has had an improvement which was good to see. I don't want to be over critical as we will definitely come again but the house needs some general maintenance and the cleaning contract needs to be relooked at especially the contract that is had to clean the place as it was not up to the same standard as last year.

The garden was smaller than shown and expected but was secure allowing our Beagle to explore at his leisure. The bedrooms were large and well furnished as was the kitchen, although we ate out during our stay. I have spoken directly to the owners about a few small housekeeping issues, but this would certainly not stop me recommending or indeed visiting the property again.

Very close to Newquay and Padstow and a nice drive to other areas. Only constructive feedback would be to use the postcode in the book at the property on the website, as Google maps got us close but not exact
