Little Strand in Rock, Cornwall, is a well-loved family home offering stunning views and direct beach access. Guests appreciate its comfortable furnishings, ample storage, and homely feel. While some minor maintenance issues and nearby building work have been noted, the property's location and charm consistently win praise. It's a favourite for many who wish to return, despite some noting an increase in price.
The property generally appears well-kept, though there was a single mention of crockery and cutlery being a bit dirty, suggesting a possible lapse in cleanliness or a dishwasher issue. This seems to be an isolated incident rather than a recurring problem.
The location is highly praised for its outstanding views across the bay, proximity to local amenities, and direct beach access. Despite some temporary noise disturbance from nearby building work, the location remains a highlight for guests.
Overall, guests find the property comfortable and homely, with special mentions of the views from the bedroom and lounge. However, there are comments about a creaky main bed and thin curtains that let in light, which slightly detract from the comfort score.
Facilities are generally good, with guests appreciating the functional and comfortable aspects of the property. Points were deducted for minor maintenance issues such as a loose handrail, a shower holder starting to break, and a slow-running tap.
While guests have noted the property feels like a family home and have mentioned the presence of games, there is no specific mention of gifts or special thoughtful touches provided by the hosts. Therefore, a score cannot be given for this category.
From its idyllic location, Little Strand offers magnificent views of the Camel estuary and direct private access to Porthilly beach. A large south-facing deck overlooks the garden, which is arranged in terraces and steps. Fresh and inviting, Little Strand is the ideal spot in which to escape the working week and immerse yourself in Cornish life. Make the most of the spacious split-level terrace with its gorgeous scenery, an ideal spot for sundowners. On a cooler day, enjoy your meals in the dining room and still enjoy those amazing views. Meander through the garden down to Porthilly cove, a quiet, relatively undiscovered beach, that is great for walking the dog. North Cornwall is a picturesque and charming location to stay; perfect for water-sports enthusiasts, keen ramblers and lovers of the rugged Cornish coastline. We would love to stay again. We did find that the crockery and cutlery was all a bit dirty and we had to wash everything before use. It may be that the dishwasher didn't work properly on an occasion. It is not something that overly bothered us though. Overall we had a fantastic week and were so fortunate with the weather!
