Penzance 1.9 miles. Saltwater is a practical, single-storey chalet in a lovely holiday park on the outskirts of the seaside resort of Penzance, in the quaint village of Gulval, Cornwall. With private, off-road parking for one car and welcoming one well-behaved pet, it’s perfect for families or groups of friends seeking a coastal retreat. Upon entering this delightful single-storey cottage, you will be greeted by a kitchen/diner, fully equipped with all the essentials you need to whip up delicious meals for your party. On-site you can find a laundrette with a washing machine and tumble dryer, perfect for those longer stays. Continue through to the inviting living/dining room, where you can unwind on the plush seating and enjoy a movie night on the 32-inch TV with Roku, or perhaps choose a film from the DVD collection. On cooler evenings, the electric wood-burning-effect fire adds a warm ambience to the room, making it the perfect spot to relax and unwind after a day of exploring. When it's time to retire for the night, choose from two well-presented bedrooms; a double and a twin, both offering a tranquil space to rest and recharge. The property also benefits from a sleek shower room, complete with a walk-in shower, basin, and WC, where you can freshen up each morning. Outside, the front patio with a picnic bench provides a lovely spot to enjoy your morning coffee or dine alfresco during the warmer months. The holiday park is set amongst 11 acres on the grounds of the 400-year-old Kenegie Manor and is home to an indoor pool and sauna, tennis, laundrette, toddler's play area, and The Old Forge bar, should you need a break from cooking. Just a couple of miles away, there is much to see and do in and around Penzance. Take a gentle stroll along the Penzance Promenade, allowing the ethereal sea breeze to accompany you while you soak up the picturesque coastal views. Immerse yourself in the rich local history and art on offer from the Penlee House Gallery & Museum, where you can explore fascinating exhibitions. The nearby Morrab Gardens, a sublime subtropical garden, also deserves a visit. Venture a little further to uncover the gem of Mousehole, home to stunning rock pools begging to be discovered. Don't miss out on a day trip to St Ives, where art enthusiasts can bask in the innovative and contemporary brilliance of Tate St Ives and the vibrant wonders of the Barbara Hepworth Museum and Sculpture Garden. Be sure to pay a visit to the charming St Ives Harbour as well, where you can catch sight of traditional boats bobbing on the waves. You’ll also find the filming locations of Poldark and Rosamund Pilcher within easy reach, as well as Mounts Bay, Cornwall’s largest bay. There is endless delight waiting to be discovered during your stay at Saltwater.
Penzance hosts Golowan, the Midsummer Carnival, and The Literary Festival. There are also The Exchange, Newlyn and Penlee Art Galleries. One of Cornwall’s most popular holiday areas is the spectacular sweep of Mount’s Bay, from the cliffside fishing village of Mousehole through Penzance and around to beautiful Marazion, the coastline hides a wealth of sandy beaches, rocky coves as well as winding village streets and other places to visit and explore. Connected by a causeway to the shore at Marazion is the National Trust’s stunningly beautiful St Michael’s Mount with its hilltop castle and Mediterranean gardens. Walk across at low water and take one of the ferry boats back when the tide is up. Penzance with its winding streets, shops, clubs, restaurants and harbour is a must as it is the jumping-off point for day trips to the Isles of Scilly as well as being the harbour. The South West Coast Path passing through Penzance winds its way along the clifftops towards Land’s End. On the way, stop off for a coffee and a rest at beautiful Lamorna Cove, explore the open air Minack Theatre and marvel at the cliffs as you approach Gwennap Head. A stunning walk for those seeking solitude, exercise and some of the UK’s best coastal scenery. Penzance is the perfect holiday base.
