Guests say

St Mary's House is a characterful Georgian property with stunning sea views and a central location in Penzance, adjacent to local amenities and a lovely park. Guests appreciate the property's potential and the thoughtful touches like provided prosecco and milk, despite noting it would benefit from modernisation and a deep clean.

Guests consistently report the need for a deep clean, mentioning issues such as mold, dust, and general neglect. The cleanliness is a significant concern, with several guests finding it below expectations.

The location is highly praised for its central position in Penzance, proximity to the seafront, and beautiful views. It is considered a great base for exploring the area.

While the beds are described as comfortable by some, others mention basic beds and a lack of spare bedding or extra towels, suggesting room for improvement in overall comfort.

Facilities are noted as outdated and in need of refurbishment. Issues with electrics, kitchen appliances, and bathroom fixtures are mentioned, indicating a need for maintenance and upgrades.

Guests have mentioned thoughtful gestures such as prosecco and milk being provided. However, as these gifts are not guaranteed for every stay, they are a pleasant bonus rather than a consistent feature.

This is our second visit because we like it so much. This is a wonderful character period property which needs modernisation but we can overlook this because of the sea views parking and location to town and seafront.Well stocked milk in fridge wine dishwasher tablets washing up liquid etc.Issues one broken shower reported no follow up from owner or cottages.com didn’t spoil holiday so didn’t follow up.Windows don’t open in upstairs bedrooms and if you turn the radiator off in single bedroom upstairs dreadful noise.

Stayed here last year and is a property full of character in a great location in Penzance however it is now time for a good refurbishment, both bathrooms and the kitchen need replacing and are now very difficult to keep clean in the time given for the cleaners. I hope the owners decide to do the work as would love to return 🤞🏼

A beautiful house in a beautiful location. However the money paid simply doesn't match what we received. Mold in the top bedrooms and bathroom. A crumbing unsafe bath. A summers worth of muck and dust, I had to vac the living room on my arrival! Dodgy electrics which tripped twice and blew 2 bathroom lights on 2 occasions. Thank goodness for the beautiful view and a case of Rattler cider.
