Guests say

The Hen House in Penzance receives high praise for its beautiful surroundings, cleanliness, and serene atmosphere. Guests appreciate the property's warmth, cosy wood burner, and the thoughtful touches from the host. The location is ideal for walking and exploring West Cornwall, with many recommending a return visit. While some minor issues with comfort and facilities are noted, the overall experience is deemed positive.

Most guests report the cottage as immaculately clean upon arrival, with exceptional cleanliness being a highlight. However, a few guests noted dirty windows and skylights, which slightly impacts the overall score.

The location is consistently praised for its beauty, tranquillity, and proximity to local amenities and coastal walks. It is considered superb for exploring the area and enjoying the scenery.

The property is described as warm and cosy, with a comfortable bed and a large bathroom. However, some guests found the sofa and quilt to be uncomfortable, suggesting room for improvement in this area.

The cooking facilities and large bathroom are well-received, but guests mention a lack of utensils, wardrobes, and outdoor furniture. The locked heating system and the need for updates in some areas are also noted.

Guests mention a welcome pack, personal note, and milk as thoughtful gestures from the host. While these are appreciated, it is politely noted that such gifts are not guaranteed for every stay.

We planned a winter break in far West Cornwall needing 2 properties close to each other and by chance found The Perch & The Hen House which exactly matched our needs. The location just outside of St Just was perfect with views over the valley to the village. Both properties are superbly presented deserving my 5 star rating. In spite of the changeable weather we enjoyed coastal walks, visits to local towns all topped off with a great view of the Northern Lights

I will defiantly be booking again next year, warmer quilts for winter guests, and more cutlery ! Small details! Positive notes bed was very comfortable and great bedding! Bathroom is fabulous, very relaxing stay!

The Hen House is in a lovely location with beautiful views across to St Just. It was warm, clean and comfortable, but with one notable exception. The sofa is probably the most uncomfortable and back ache inducing sofa we have ever attempted to sit on for any length of time. Unfortunately the only other options for sitting and watching TV was a small wicker chair or a dining chair. It would also have been useful to have a small coffee table too, instead of having to use the floor to place cups. Always risky when you have a dog! Apart from that, everything was great! Oh - and then Storm Goretti struck on Thursday night. We felt safe and the owner kindly brought us a torch, which was useful after we lost power! We did leave a day early, once the main roads were passable, as the electricity was predicted to be restored 2 days later on the Sunday morning, leaving us with no means of making hot drinks or cooking food. We would recommend the lovely Hen House, as long as the sofa was replaced with one that you truly could relax on!
