Just spent a glorious four days at Tanglewood with my family. The cottage was extremely well appointed with everything necessary for our stay. The location is excellent with everything a short drive away. At first it does appear a little off the beaten track but is perfect for striking out to explore. A perfect beach for exercising dogs (Par Sands) is about 15-20 minutes away. Personally, I grew up in St.Austell so I’m familiar with the area. From experience, we tended to come out in the morning, look to see which direction seemed brightest and headed off that way. There is always something to see and do. The owners of Tanglewood have provided plenty of information and leaflets to help you explore. Niles Bakery for Cornish Pasties is my personal recommendation as their ‘traditional’ pasty is not to be missed if you are a meat eater.

We enjoyed our stay at Tanglewood. It’s a large house with plenty of space for our party of five, and it was well equipped with everything we needed, including a TV and WiFi. The garden is lovely, with outdoor seating, and there’s also a comfortable front porch which adds extra indoor space to relax. The two large tables were great for family meals, and having two bathrooms (one en suite) plus three toilets was really convenient. That said, the house would benefit from some updating in places. A couple of the bedroom doors had gaps, which meant noise—such as TVs—could easily be heard from other rooms. We also didn’t have access to the heating controls and found it quite chilly at times during the day ( we stayed in early May) . Although we raised this with the owner, only the on/off times were adjusted rather than the temperature.Overall, a spacious and well-equipped property, but with a few areas that could be improved for comfort.

Great views and location. Nice touches for arrival, but cleaning could do with some TLC
