Guests say

Guests have praised the property for its excellent location, comfortable furnishings, and stunning sea views. The house's Scandi rustic design and well-equipped kitchen were appreciated, contributing to a relaxing and enjoyable stay. Some minor issues were noted, such as maintenance details and the need for clearer information on property amenities.

The property was generally found to be clean, though some guests mentioned finding cleaning products around and a dirty BBQ. The garden furniture cushions also had bird droppings, indicating room for improvement in outdoor cleanliness.

The location is highly praised for being central to Port Gaverne and Port Isaac, with easy access to eateries, shops, and walking paths. The proximity to the sea and the views it offers are particularly appreciated.

Guests found the beds comfortable and the house cosy, with throws on the sofas and a starter for the log fire. However, one guest mentioned the master bed being a bit small, and some windows were difficult to close.

The property is well-equipped, but there were several comments about the lack of certain items like an ironing board, washing line, or tumble dryer. Some guests also struggled with parking due to muddy conditions and had issues with appliance instructions and refuse collection information.

There is no mention of gifts or special touches that would indicate thoughtfulness from the hosts. Therefore, this category cannot be scored.

About this property

1 Tintagel is a wonderful, spacious end-terrace cottage in a quiet location at the top of the village of Port Isaac, Cornwall. Stylishly and tastefully decorated and recently refurbished throughout with the rooms at the back of the property enjoying superb sea and coastal views towards Tintagel Head, which makes this self-catering property a wonderful, seaside treat for a family of six. The property is accompanied by private parking, whilst also offering a front garden, in which you can enjoy a moment of relaxation with a coffee on a sunny morning. The kitchen/diner is not only well-presented, but generously proportioned and offers a good selection of appliances; a vintage butcher's block also gives an interesting contrast to the contemporary feel of the bespoke fittings.

The dining room has plenty of space for 6 to eat in comfort and features a stunning wall mural. Relax in the comfortable sitting room to soak up gorgeous sea views and light the fire on a chilly evening. For quiet moments enjoy a book in the sun room leading directly to the charming garden. Before bed, freshen up in the ground-floor shower room, where a refreshing rinse can be enjoyed after a fun-filled day. Upstairs, a double bedroom enjoys a stunning ensuite bathroom with a free standing bath, where you can luxuriate in the gorgeous sea views right from the tub.

Two further rooms, one double and one twin, share a second bathroom, accessed via steps up from a half landing, that also enjoys sea views. The back garden is sunny and includes a table for dining as well as a comfy sofa from which to enjoy the views with a firepit to keep off any evening chills. This property is perfectly placed between the old historic village of Port Isaac and the charming cove at Port Gaverne which is ideal for a morning swim. Port Isaac holidays allow visitors to appreciate the beauty and history of this bustling fishing village, which is nestled between towering cliffs and lovely bays.

Join the coast path for a strenuous hike to Port Quinn, a tranquil bay maintained by the National Trust that is ideal for swimming and kayaking at high tide. Accompany a coasteering group for a guided tour of coves and cliffs nearby at Port Gaverne, or just paddle or swim at this pebbly beach. On a quiet day, go out onto 'The Main,' a cliff to the right of the beach with a wonderful view of the coastline and rocks below, a fantastic picnic site. A picturesque drive will take you to Polzeath Beach, famous for surfing and bodyboarding; Daymer Bay, with its calm seas ideal for little children; or Rock, famed for its various water activities including sailing and water skiing, with a foot ferry to Padstow.

Port Isaac is one of Cornwall's great gems. The historic fishing village situated in a steep-sided valley, has remained untouched from its days of fishing, slate export, and smuggling in the previous century. There are several tiny character residences, as well as bigger cliff-top getaways, with easy access to the village's various restaurants and stores. It's just moments away from the beaches of Polzeath, Daymer, and Rock, making it ideal for both romantic and family breaks.

The view is second to none and the location could not be a more perfect base for exploring this wonderful area. We had some wonderful meals both in Port Issac and around the local area. The house was not very clean at all which will let this stay down. We are not being over fussy or critical but not even a service lawyer clean had been done. We found rubbish from the last guests, no where had been dusted, all of the windows were in a disgusting state both inside and out, previous guests comments on garden furniture cushions etc not being cleaned had just been ignored. It really took the shine off our stay in terms of having to clean on our first day and then adhoc clean items before we used them during the week. Such a shame as the propery itself would otherwise be 5 star!

Only a 5/10 minute walk to both areas, but a bit up and down, so it would take a bit longer if your mobility is poorer. Lovely comfy house with a scandi rustic design and near sea views from the back of the house. That feeling of living right on the sea is very calming and relaxing. We will definitely be back.

The village has quite a few interesting touristy shops and fabulous walking. Comfy beds and furniture. Plenty of loo roll and dishwasher tabs provided, but no tea bags. It would have been helpful to have instructions/manuals for how to operate the oven, bin/recycling details etc. A little more maintenance in places would be helpful: it took some effort to close some windows, there is no blind over the bathroom window, and the fridge froze our veg. The house was fairly clean, but the cushions for the garden furniture had many bird splats. These were fairly small details though, overall we had a great stay and would recommend this lovely spot.
