About this property

This delightful, semi-detached three-storey cottage with sea views from its big enclosed garden sits 250 yards up from the harbour in the exceptionally pretty Cornish fishing village of Port Isaac. Set over three floors, this neat and tidy cottage provides cosy, all-year-round, family accommodation in this famous fishing village, with the added bonus of off street parking, a rarity in Port Isaac. On the ground floor, a bright, sunny sitting room with a pretty Victorian open fireplace and a bay window from which you can enjoy those sea views. An archway leads through to a well-equipped kitchen and dining area with a slate floor. Up on the first floor, two bedrooms, a twin and a large double with countryside views and a family bathroom. Steep stairs with handrail up to the top floor where there are two more bedrooms, a single with lovely sea views and a double, both with dormer windows. Port Isaac's lively shops, pubs and restaurants (including two owned by Nathan Outlaw - the 2018 Good Food Guide's top restaurant) are a gentle stroll away. Port Isaac is also the haunt of the world famous Fisherman's Friends shanty singers, who often perform here on the harbour front. Just along the coast are fascinating coves to explore at Port Gaverne and Port Quin, with the splendid sand and surf beach at Polzeath just 5 miles by road. A good, cosy family cottage within a stroll of the lovely harbour, Edgehill is a lovely spot for exploring this magnificent stretch of coastline.

Port Isaac, one of the undiscovered treasures of Cornwall. A beautiful fishing village nestling in a steep sided valley, the old village in the valley remains unchanged from its days of fishing, slate export and smuggling in the previous century

No massive complaints, but there are a couple of things which would have made life a bit easier! Maybe you should make guests aware before they book that you don't allow barbecues in the garden - and the slope would not make it suitable anyway. Also that the garden is a very sloping lawn(only climbed up there twice to use clothes line right at the top.) This could certainly influence whether to book or not. Being 5ft 3(1/2!!) I was physically challenged to hang clothes on the line!! Also couldn't see my face in the shower room mirror for the same reason. The shower room window was locked with no sign of any key. This resulted in a very steamy shower room (the extractor fan was very noisy and pretty ineffective). This has probably contributed to the disgusting stained grout in the shower cubicle.?? The best way we found to clear the steam was to keep the back door open (not ideal). As stated in your info the driveway is very steep, though we managed ok Really useful to have a parking space. We were just 2 guests and only used the double bedroom. I don't think I'd like to be part of a party of 7 with the layout of the bedrooms /toilet facilties.

No issues, except which chippie to choose. I'll be back.

A lot of them were accurate both good and bad. The parking is a challenge unless you have a very good hand break and a smaller car. The labels everywhere are very helpful but many are faded now. The booklet provided is out of date and a lot of repetition and contradictions. No bin bags provided. The cleanliness was not good especially in the lounge where under the seats on the sofa hadn’t been cleaned for a while. I cleaned every piece of china before use, and the dishwasher hadn’t been cleaned for a while. The cottage is dated but comfy and we generally enjoyed our stay. The owner rang as promised but wasn’t really able to help with our queries and we weren’t able to open lower floor shower room window which was unfortunate as the expel air wasn’t great. The bedrooms were nice and the bed in the large bedroom was very comfy - others not so much. We appreciated the biscuits left for us. Cornwall clearly doesn’t do recycling-we had to take ours home. Apparently the charges are making most places remove containers. Port Isaac is lovely and Edgehill is right in the centre of it, so very good spot. Mixed review for a mixed experience. Would book again if some of the above issues were remedied.
