Guests say

Tregonhawke Farmhouse in Cornwall offers a spacious and comfortable stay with a well-equipped kitchen, beautiful garden, and proximity to the coast. Guests appreciate the peaceful location, suitability for large groups, and the helpfulness of the hosts. While some cleanliness issues were noted, the farmhouse's charm and amenities generally provide a pleasant holiday experience.

Reviews indicate a mix of experiences regarding cleanliness. Some guests found the property to be clean and homely, while others reported issues such as dirty floors, kitchen utensils, and stained mattresses. The inconsistency leads to a slightly above-average score.

The location is highly praised for its tranquillity, proximity to the coast, and local amenities. The scenic surroundings and nearby attractions contribute to a high score, despite some concerns about accessibility for disabled guests and the steep path to the beach.

Guests generally find the farmhouse comfortable, with ample space and cosy settings. However, some noted issues with dampness, old beds, and a lack of central heating control. The overall comfort experience is positive but with room for improvement.

The farmhouse is well-equipped for large groups, with a good kitchen and garden. Some guests mentioned a lack of cleaning products and basic cooking ingredients, and there were comments about maintenance needs. The facilities are adequate but could benefit from attention to detail.

While the reviews reflect a generally positive experience with the hosts' helpfulness, there is no specific mention of gifts or special touches that would fall under the category of thoughtfulness. Therefore, this score cannot be provided.

About this property

Updated for 2026 – a more sociable space to enjoy together

A small but impactful update has enhanced this much-loved farmhouse for 2026. The former second sitting room has been transformed into a stylish dining space, allowing for the addition of a central island in the kitchen. The result is a more practical and sociable heart of the home – perfect for preparing meals, sharing stories, and entertaining larger groups. The new dining area also features a TV, with the potential for an additional TV in the kitchen, ensuring plenty of entertainment options for all.

Big on space, charm and together-time, this historic farmhouse near Whitsand Bay is the perfect base for unforgettable group getaways.

Tucked away down a peaceful Cornish lane, just a ten-minute stroll from both Millbrook and the sandy stretch of Whitsand Bay (via a scenic cliff path), Tregonhawke Farmhouse is a wonderfully characterful retreat, ideal for bringing family and friends together – with dogs welcome too.

Dating back to the 16th century, this much-loved farmhouse has been home to generations and offers a welcoming blend of history, comfort, and spacious living across two floors.

Enter through the porch from the garden – perfect for leaving muddy boots or sandy shoes after a day exploring – and step into the heart of the home: the spacious farmhouse kitchen. With its new central island and improved layout, this inviting space is designed for cooking, chatting and gathering together. Adjacent to the kitchen, the newly created dining room provides a stylish setting for shared meals and celebrations, making sociable holiday living easier than ever.

The generous main living room, complete with a cosy wood burner, is the perfect place to relax after a day on the coast. The ground floor also offers a double bedroom with garden access, a shower room, and a separate WC.

Upstairs, five individually styled bedrooms provide flexible sleeping arrangements for larger groups, including doubles, twins (one with a charming low lintel), and a single bedroom. Two family bathrooms help ensure busy mornings run smoothly.

Outside, the enclosed garden is a real highlight – a safe and spacious haven for children and dogs alike. Enjoy a large lawn for games, garden furniture for al fresco dining, and a BBQ for long summer evenings. Surrounded by mature trees and farmland, the setting feels wonderfully peaceful, yet you're only a short stroll (around three minutes) from a well-stocked coarse fishing lake (booking and payment required in advance).

Perfect for families, friends and four-legged companions, Tregonhawke Farmhouse offers a relaxed setting to reconnect, unwind and create lasting memories together.

Dog-friendly (2 dogs welcome), with the added bonus of doggy day care available – ideal if you're planning a day out exploring. Please contact the owner directly to arrange day care, as payment is required six weeks prior to your stay.

We went for a family holiday, and that is what we were able to enjoy - with lots of family and friends staying at the house, including a 5-month old baby. The property is large and probably best suited to parties like ours - who need plenty of living space in a lovely location with the opportunity to get to the beach easily or out on walks. It's not suited to those looking for snug hideaways - but that should be obvious to anyone looking at it. It was terrific for us - large and clean and really well located. When we needed to contact the owners they were easy to contact and very helpful. Thank you. It was a great family holiday and the house was a central part of that.

We loved seeing the local wildlife and the farm animals from out of the windows. We used the local Co op in Milbrook a couple of times and enjoyed the fish and chips from Ben's Plaice. Two lovely meals in The Edgecombe Arms in Cremyl. Just a couple of niggles. The downstairs bedroom was a tad dark for us. The beach is lovely however wasn't accessible for some of our group due to the steepness of the climb down. Saying that it wouldn't put us off booking again.
