We had a truly magical time at Castle Hill House, thank you. It’s a beautiful, characterful home with stunning views across the hills and out to Sidmouth Bay. We arrived close to sunset and the scenery really was breathtaking. We were a group of 12 (including a few children and dogs), and the house accommodated us brilliantly. The kitchen felt even more spacious than the photos suggested and was very well stocked with everything we needed for big group cooking. The house is full of character, with original features and interesting family ornaments that make it feel warm and lived-in rather than clinical. The Aga took us a little time to get used to (very possibly because we were novices!), so allowing a bit of extra time when cooking is sensible — though there is also an electric oven, which was handy. The snooker table, tennis court, log burner, and visiting wildlife all made it a really special place to spend time together. We can only imagine how stunning it must be in the summer as well. Thank you to Nick & Co for being such wonderful hosts and for answering our many questions prior to arrival. A truly memorable stay!
