The location of the cottage was lovely but everything else was not. On entering the property we were met with a musty damp smell that didn't improve with opening windows and doors and using air freshener. We turned the heating on half way through the week which helped with the smell a little. The cottage interior was old and very tired and needs a complete redecoration. There is flaking paint on windows amd walls and a couple of cracked window panes. The shower screen in the upstairs bathroom has no bottom seal so had to put inside bath to prevent water pouring onto floor. The kitchen had basic utensils and the oven and grill were very temperamental to use. There were missing light bulbs which we managed to get all but one replaced by owner. There was no vacuum cleaner only a brush and dustpan which is not ideal when you have a dog to clean up after. The small garden was enclosed as advertised but we had to use a garden chair to wedge gate shut as no latch. The garden furniture is old rusty and dirty so did not want to use. This is the worst cottage we have booked through Cottages.com and definitely not worth the price we paid. We strongly would not recommend amd won't be returning.

We thoroughly enjoyed our week, the setting of the cottage is idyllic and very peaceful. The cottage itself is a bit tired and the garden needed some work ( lawn needed mowing would have set a better impression and hedges trimmed ). They certainly need to supply some decent garden furniture, as the weather was exceptional and we spent most of our time outside for meals and relaxing. Lovely walk into Sidmouth along the river Sid, our dog enjoyed paddling. Beds very comfy, plenty of hot water and enjoyed the upstairs lounge. Lovely peaceful week.
