Guests say

Posbury Lodge receives high praise for its cleanliness, comfort, and comprehensive facilities, including a hot tub and games room. The property is described as well-equipped, with a secure garden ideal for pets and children. Guests appreciate the thoughtful touches from the host, such as welcome baskets and personalised messages, contributing to a delightful stay amidst the Devon countryside.

Reviewers consistently mention the property being 'spotlessly clean' and 'scrupulously clean', indicating a very high standard of cleanliness that contributes significantly to the comfort of their stay.

The property's location is described as peaceful and ideal for relaxation, with a countryside setting that is appreciated by guests. However, some mention the 'unstable' Wi-Fi and mobile coverage, which is understandable given the rural location.

Guests find the cottage comfortable, with mentions of 'lovely comfortable beds', 'cosy' atmosphere, and a well-equipped kitchen. The presence of a hot tub and secure garden adds to the overall comfort of the property.

The facilities, including a hot tub, games room, well-equipped kitchen, and secure garden, are frequently highlighted as excellent. The property is also praised for its maintenance and the availability of amenities like logs for the burner.

The host's thoughtfulness is evident through the provision of welcome baskets, personalised messages, and additional touches like Christmas stockings and homemade treats. While these gifts are highly appreciated, it is politely noted that such personal touches, though likely, are not guaranteed for every stay.

About this property

Crediton 2.9 miles. Settled in the Devon countryside on the outskirts of Dartmoor National Park, near Crediton is Posbury Lodge. This idyllic, dog-friendly thatched cottage benefits from a fantastic rural location, off-road parking for three cars, an enclosed garden with hot tub and furniture and four well-appointed bedrooms: perfect for families, friends or couples looking to explore the wonders of Devon. Cross the threshold and head straight into the sitting room where you can warm your feet by the crackling woodburning stove after a day full of exploration before heading to the fully-equipped kitchen to rustle up hearty meals for the whole family which you can enjoy around the dining table or alfresco, outside on the patio. Later enjoy a soothing soak in the bubbling hot tub as the stars begin to fill the sky before venturing into the ground-floor bathroom to wash off the day’s adventures. When sleep calls, choose from four thoughtfully presented bedrooms to catch up on your rest, there is a king-size and single completing the ground-floor and a double and twin completing the second. If you can tear yourself away from this tranquil dwelling head into the nearby market town of Crediton where you can stock up on essentials at the local supermarkets before enjoying a much-needed break from the kitchen at pubs including The Three Little Pigs or The Red Deer. The surrounding countryside has history woven throughout; tour the National Trust sites of Killerton, an elegant house with manicured gardens, Clyston Mill, a working Victorian flour mill overlooking the river or the Tiverton Museum of Mid Devon Life. Exeter lies nearby and houses a myriad of attractions including Northernhay Gardens, Belmont Park, the Royal Albert Memorial Museum and the unique network of underground, vaulted passageways under the city. Experience all this and more at Posbury Lodge.

Located in "Red Devon," an area of Devon famed for its characteristic red soil, which is of great agricultural quality and good for growing swedes, and 8.5 miles north-west of Exeter, the cathedral city. Here in Devon's rural landscape, ruby cattle graze peacefully in the undisturbed green pastures. There are numerous settlements spread out across the landscape, each with a cosy inn, a fully stocked general store, and hospitable locals. Crediton is home to a fantastic farmers' market, cutting-edge recreation facility, and numerous pubs that welcome families. Dartmoor National Park, with its many trails for hiking and horseback riding, is less than a 10-mile drive from Crediton. Likewise, the charming city of Exeter, with its theatres, stunning cathedral, shopping malls, and historic quay lined with waterfront cafes, antique shops, and bars, is less than a half-hour drive away.

It was super well equipped and the hosts had thought of everything. There was absolutely nothing wanting. Beautiful cottage, beautiful views and we had an amazing week there. The kids and dogs loved the large enclosed garden and we all made great use of the hot tub. The place is super lovely and really felt like a home away from home. Amazing hosts and an amazing place. Highly recommend this place and we were all sad to leave.

Lovely welcome basket. Grandsons loved the games room. Ruth is a very thoughtful host. So many five star touches - even a brand new nailbrush in the bathroom! The hot tub was appreciated until the sun came out and it was too hot! Then we appreciated the thatch which is actually quite cooling. We all enjoyed watching the hay harvest going on in the neighbouring fields. We wouldn't change a thing.

Perfect area to relax or be as active as you want to be. Ruth was a perfect host and the extra touches she provided are second to none. We will recommend to all of our friends and family and would love to return.
