The Thatched Cottage in Devon offers stunning views and a cosy, inviting atmosphere with ample space for families and pets. The hot tub is a highlight, providing a relaxing experience amidst beautiful surroundings. The property exudes charm and character, with guests appreciating the well-equipped kitchen and comfortable bedrooms. While some guests noted areas for improvement, the overall sentiment is one of enjoyment and a desire to return.
Reviews indicate a mix of experiences regarding cleanliness. Some guests found the property to be clean and inviting, while others noted dust, cobwebs, and areas in need of a deep clean. The inconsistency leads to a slightly above-average score, reflecting the need for more attention to detail in cleaning.
The location is praised for its stunning views and tranquillity, with a private setting that guests find appealing. However, some guests noted the proximity to a busy road and the lack of secure areas for dogs. The balance of positive views and accessibility concerns results in a good score.
Guests generally find the cottage comfortable, with cosy rooms, inviting beds, and a well-equipped kitchen. The spaciousness allows for privacy within larger groups. Some concerns about cold bedrooms and the need for extra blankets slightly affect the score, but overall comfort is rated highly.
Facilities such as the hot tub, well-stocked kitchen, and ample seating are appreciated by guests. However, reports of maintenance issues like broken garden furniture, loose steps, and outdated bathrooms suggest room for improvement. The score reflects the balance between the well-received amenities and the need for updates and repairs.
While some guests mentioned welcome packs and gifts, there is inconsistency in their provision, and they are not guaranteed. As such, it is not possible to accurately score thoughtfulness based on the available reviews.

The rooms from the kitchen onwards and the bedrooms above the lounge were very much more modern and up to date than the rooms at the other end. The downstairs bedroom walls were damp and both that room and the bedroom above felt like they needed modernising and a lot more attention. The bathrooms and toilets to these bedrooms were very dated and didnât look that clean and the showers very basic compared to the other bathroom. The hot tub was amazing and lovely and warm. The garden felt a bit unloved and unkempt and the walk to the hot tub over grown a bit. We did enjoy our break and we said the beds were comfy and we slept well but just parts could do with a bit of an update and attention. Thanks for the welcome pack that was a lovely touch.

The original wooden beams, low ceilings, and old stone fireplaces really gave it charm. The living room was cozy and comfortable, with a pool/table tennis table that was a hit with the older kids. The kitchen was well-equipped with everything we needed, and the welcome basket was a thoughtful personal touch. The bedrooms were spacious, clean, and well-furnished, with plenty of extra bedding available. The view was breathtakingâendless green fields stretching out in front. There was comfortable outdoor seating where we could sit and enjoy the scenery over a cup of tea. Overall, we had a wonderful stay and will definitely be booking again. It felt special to stay in a cottage with so much history, dating back to the 1600s. Highly recommend!

The studio room at the top wasnât up to the standard of the rest of the property. Carpets very dirty, very dusty and cobwebs everywhere you look. The shower was dirty and the vent in shower could do with a thorough clean.. shower also leaked into kitchen . Had to ask for more bed linen and also ask for more light bulbs . In my opinion the cottage is a beautiful place but would not return. We have used Sykes accommodations on 3 previous occasions and have always been very happy and satisfied.
