Braunton is a large village (some say the largest in the UK) with everything you need locally and is the gateway to some of the finest award-winning surfing beaches in the country such as Saunton Sands, Croyde, Putsborough and Woolacombe which are all within easy reach by car. If surfing, rock pooling, walking in the dunes or simply lazing on the beach is your thing, then look no further than these stunning locations.
Braunton is considered as the major hub of the immediate area and has a good selection of regular and boutique shops, pubs, cafés and restaurants, including one of the country’s best fish and chips restaurants! As the centre of the North Devon surf scene, Braunton is also home to the Museum of British Surfing and some great surfers’ shops. The fabulous Saunton Sands is a great expanse of sandy beach (regularly used as a filming location for movies and videos) with exceptional sand dunes behind it, known as Braunton Burrows, the largest sand dune system in England. walkers and runners love the dunes and it is also great for dogs. Saunton Golf Club is under 3 miles away and the Tarka Trail which allows you to enjoy some of Devon’s finest countryside and river scenery is just around the corner and follows a disused railway line and is loved by cyclists, runners and walkers alike. Further afield you can enjoy exploring more of North Devon and all its attractions such as Exmoor National Park, home of the first ‘Dark Sky Reserve’ in Europe, Valley of the Rocks, the many rugged coastal towns and quaint villages such as Lynton & Lynmouth, Ilfracombe, Hartland and the world-famous Clovelly Village – all with awe-inspiring scenery. And there are plenty of family-oriented places to visit including Exmoor Zoo, Milky Way Adventure Park, The Big Sheep farm-themed park, Watermouth Castle family theme park and Combe Martin Wildlife and Dinosaur Park plus many others. For visitors seeking a piece of Devon life then the main towns of Barnstaple and Bideford provide the opportunity to wander during their weekly pannier markets.

Lovely clean, comfortable and great value for money accommodation in a quiet cul-de-sac. Not too over impressed with Braunton, it was busy with traffic and didn’t really have the seaside feel to it and certainly seemed big for a village.Would recommend accommodation but would be better placed out of Braunton and a bit more accessible to the nearby beaches.

The cottage is in an excellent location and was perfect for us; a family of 4 with 2 dogs. It is within a short drive to some of the best beaches and also within a short walking distance of the centre of Braunton with all the shops, pubs and cafes. The house is modern, spacious and clean and we were very comfortable throughout our weeks stay. It is also very well equipped and had everything we need. The only room for improvement (minor) is the garden as in contrast to the house it is not as well presented which is a shame as it gets the sun most of the day and is quiet and private. We couldn't use any of the garden furniture as it was either too rusty or broken so we used our own camping chairs. Replacement of outdoor furniture and some general weeding would soon turn this garden into a better space. We would definitely like to return to the cottage and had a fanastic family holiday, it is a beautiful area of North Devon and a well maintained home.
