Mont Blanc House offers spacious, comfortable accommodation in a quiet cul-de-sac, ideal for families and dog owners. Guests appreciated its proximity to North Devon’s beaches and Braunton’s amenities. The property is well-equipped and provides a relaxing base for exploring the area. While many found the house clean and modern, some noted areas needing attention, such as the garden and certain maintenance issues. Overall, the property is praised for its value and location, with some room for improvement in upkeep.
Several guests found the property clean and comfortable, but others reported issues such as grubby doors, mould in the shower, and a need for deeper cleaning in the kitchen. Cleanliness standards appear inconsistent.
The location is highly regarded for its quiet setting and easy access to beaches and Braunton’s shops and cafes. Some guests felt Braunton itself lacked a seaside feel, but the house’s position was generally seen as convenient.
Guests enjoyed the spaciousness and comfort of the house, but some mentioned uncomfortable mattresses, flat pillows, and limited comfortable seating, especially for those with mobility needs.
The house is well-equipped for families and dogs, but maintenance issues such as broken garden furniture, a faulty can opener, and problems with hot water and heating were noted. The garden was also described as untidy.
There were no mentions of welcome gifts or extra thoughtful touches in the reviews, so a score cannot be provided for this category.

Braunton is a large village (some say the largest in the UK) with everything you need locally and is the gateway to some of the finest award-winning surfing beaches in the country such as Saunton Sands, Croyde, Putsborough and Woolacombe which are all within easy reach by car. If surfing, rock pooling, walking in the dunes or simply lazing on the beach is your thing, then look no further than these stunning locations.
Braunton is considered as the major hub of the immediate area and has a good selection of regular and boutique shops, pubs, cafés and restaurants, including one of the country’s best fish and chips restaurants! As the centre of the North Devon surf scene, Braunton is also home to the Museum of British Surfing and some great surfers’ shops. The fabulous Saunton Sands is a great expanse of sandy beach (regularly used as a filming location for movies and videos) with exceptional sand dunes behind it, known as Braunton Burrows, the largest sand dune system in England. walkers and runners love the dunes and it is also great for dogs. Saunton Golf Club is under 3 miles away and the Tarka Trail which allows you to enjoy some of Devon’s finest countryside and river scenery is just around the corner and follows a disused railway line and is loved by cyclists, runners and walkers alike. Further afield you can enjoy exploring more of North Devon and all its attractions such as Exmoor National Park, home of the first ‘Dark Sky Reserve’ in Europe, Valley of the Rocks, the many rugged coastal towns and quaint villages such as Lynton & Lynmouth, Ilfracombe, Hartland and the world-famous Clovelly Village – all with awe-inspiring scenery. And there are plenty of family-oriented places to visit including Exmoor Zoo, Milky Way Adventure Park, The Big Sheep farm-themed park, Watermouth Castle family theme park and Combe Martin Wildlife and Dinosaur Park plus many others. For visitors seeking a piece of Devon life then the main towns of Barnstaple and Bideford provide the opportunity to wander during their weekly pannier markets.

Mont Blanc cottage has once been a lovely place but it’s now looking tired and unloved. It desperately needs a re-decorate as walls and doors badly scuffed ,kitchen walls marked with food splashes and living room ceiling badly marked with water ingress stains. I spent the first morning after arrival, going round washing doors / handles and around light switches as they were very grubby. The shower head in the loft bedroom was covered with black mould ( as was the metal shower hose) I had to soak it off ! The bath panel was repaired with parcel tape. We had issues with missing bed/matress which to their credit the owner rectified within 3 days. I had to go to Dunelm and buy new pillows, as the ones left for us were flat and needed to be thrown away. The only seating area was a very uncomfortable bed settee, I am registered disabled and my friend had recently undergone knee surgery …… a better sofa and/ or comfy chair is much needed. We had to bring one of the garden chairs in, to try get some comfort. This is not a bad review , but a constructive one and a true account of our 2 week stay.We have stayed many times in North Devon , we know standards are normally above this.

Mont Blanc house standards weren’t good overall. Kitchen should have been cleaned better. The bed mattress needed replacing. The Garden was awful weeds everywhere and just wasn’t kept well . I shall not be returning. I have been coming to Braunton for years this has been the worst experience.
