A terraced former police house in the village centre of Braunton, this charming cottage is just three miles from the beautiful North Devon Coast. Located in the heart of the village, you are surrounded by village shops, surf shops, traditional village pubs, contemporary restaurants, bars and cafes, and also close to the bank and cash point. With sandy beaches and golf courses, this is an ideal holiday cottage for all the family. The Old Police House has been beautifully converted, with some of the interesting original features retained. The kitchen with its large dining area leads out to a utility room and surfboard storage area. The sitting room has plush sofas and a large TV, and makes a really cosy, relaxing family room. The former ground floor cell has the original viewing panel and now serves as a bedroom with bespoke bunk beds, and the wide staircase used to take criminals up to the first floor has a fabulous feature window, letting in plenty of light to the upstairs landing. The three bedrooms on the first floor are spacious; the Kingpin Room with a king-size bed, the Garden Room with a double bed and patio doors leading out to the garden, and The Family Room which can either be made up with a super king-size double and a single, or with three single beds. The enclosed rear garden is reached via the inner hallway or the utility room, and several steps lead up to extensive decking across two areas. The decking can also be reached from one of the first floor double bedrooms, being on the top level, and it has wonderful views across the village, providing a sunny spot to relax around the barbecue. A short stroll into the village provides easy access to a bistro, pubs, cafes and shops and a three-mile drive leads to the fabulous long sandy beach at Saunton, which is backed by Braunton Burrows, a vast area of sand dunes, designated an AONB. A welcoming cottage with a wealth of charm, close to beaches and family fun.
Three miles from the beaches and coast of lovely Devon sits the village of Braunton, which has a bistro, pubs, cafes and shops. Visit Saunton Sands beach, tackle the South West Coast Path or try your hand at golfing. Over the estuary, the village of Instow has an attractive quayside which is home to a selection of pubs, as well as a sandy beach which makes a great spot for a family game or picnic taking in the views towards Appledore. The house is dirty with dead insects and general dirt all around the house even when allowing for its age the furniture is also old and the double bed is of poor quality. The bedding is also poor and needs updating due to age. Pillows are awful. The facilities are good i.e. dish washer, washing machine etc and outside toilet cleaner than inside toilet. overall an alright house but could be a lovely house. Parking an issue, but we knew that when we booked, The house needs a deep clean, I would suggest no one has rented this property for sometime and you can tell. I also requested three single beds via the email address supplied, no reply and the beds were not correct i.e. a double and single not three singles like I requested and advertised if needed.

Our reservation before arriving was the lack of parking. There was no mention of where to park but we managed to find a car park within 5 minute's walk, Caen Street Car Park. It was inexpensive. There was little information about the house, we didn't expect a dishwasher or washing machine. It was all "high spec". The garden was super. (Had we renovated the property, we would have dismissed Cell One and bunk beds and put in a downstairs loo!)

TV was broken. No action was taken during our stay. Overall the property was lovely but a few things let it down. The toilet seat in the main bathroom was broken, we all have bruises on our legs from it. There was a lack of towels for 6 people staying. No welcome pack in the kitchen, had to go and buy tea towels, washing up liquid etc⦠Window in the sitting room did not close properly allowing draft and lots of noise into the room! Rubbish collections were complicated and was not taken due to rubbish not being placed into black bags which again had not been provided. Cottage is in a great location and could be an amazing place to stay with a few little touches, kitchen was well equipped but some instructions for the appliances wouldnât go amiss and beds and sofas were comfortable.
