Westwell Hall sits just back from the South West Coast Path in Ilfracombe, overlooking the seaside town and the water. Sleeping 29 guests in 14 bedrooms (10 with ensuite bathrooms), this big self-catering holiday home is perfect for a group of friends or family gathering for a celebration or a reunion in a wonderful setting. The North Devon holiday home was previously a Victorian Gentleman's residence and also lends itself to hosting corporate events and holistic retreats. In addition to beautifully proportioned rooms that include two kitchens, a conservatory dining room, and a games room, the Westwell Hall boasts an acre-sized garden with a patio and private hot tub.

Ilfracombe is famous for the Tunnels Beaches. Seeing that the only way to swim the sheltered waters was to scale a dramatic cliff, miners dug through so Victorian beachgoers could enjoy the health benefits of swimming in the ocean. Tunnels Beaches is worth the small entry fee for the pleasure of the quiet beach and Victorian tidal bathing pool. Ilfracombe is also known for its scenic harbour, which is lined with shops and cafes and full of colourful boats. Walk to the end of the pier for the Ilfracombe Aquarium and ticket booths selling trips on sightseeing boat tours.

Walk the South West Coast Path to Rapparee Cove, Hele Cove, and Wildersmouth. Day trips include Exmoor Zoo, Arlington Court and the National Trust Carriage Museum, Quince Honey Farm, and the Combe Martin Wildlife and Dinosaur Park. If you're feeling energetic, the 99-mile Coast-to-Coast route links Ilfracombe on the North Coast of Devon with Plymouth in the South, and you're only a stone's throw from Exmoor National Park for more outdoor adventures.
