Barley Cottage is a stone-built two-bedroom cottage set within 28 acres of private grounds in the Colmer Estate near Modbury in South Devon. The cottage is one of only 20 privately owned homes on the estate which includes a woodland, nature lake, streams, landscaped gardens and meadows. There is a large communal heated outdoor swimming pool which guests can use (open late May to September) and an indoor pool that is open all year round, plus guests also have use of the shared tennis courts, table tennis table, games room, gym and children’s play area situated within a walled garden.
This cosy terraced cottage sits alongside similar properties and retains the original stone features in the open-plan kitchen, dining and sitting room area. The kitchen is well equipped with an electric cooker, dishwasher, microwave, coffee pod machine and fridge/freezer. The living area is perfect for relaxing in after a busy day exploring the local area, so kick back and watch a film on the TV with Freeview in front of the electric wood burner. The enclosed patio area in front of the cottage has outdoor seating and it is a great suntrap for enjoying an al fresco meal before the sun sets. Heading upstairs, there is access to a lawned area behind the cottage, with winding paths leading to the Colmer Estate facilities. Across the landing there is a family bathroom with a shower over the bath and two bedrooms, the first with a double bed and the second twin bed room. (Trundle beds)

Great holiday, Colmer Estate is lovely, beautiful grounds, both swimming pools were kept very clean and tidy. 1st impression of Barley Cottage was a little disappointing, flaky paint work, lots of cobwebs around the windows and door, weeds in the paving, also would have been nice to have a tub of flowers rather than weeds. The cottage was comfortable, just needed some TLC , cushions need replacing in the lounge, definitely needs a new toilet brush, bath grip handles were very grubby around the junction with the bath. The welcome pack was a lovely surprise, everything we needed. California Inn was nice, friendly staff and delicious food. Little shop in the petrol station was great. Farm shop and cafe down the roads was lovely.

Garden could do with spicing up, a notice to say where seat cushions for outside seat are.Hoover was clogged up with hair so couldnt use.Bathroom shower could be upgraded and a hand held shower should be available ,tiles on floor had grout missing no toilet roll holder.Larger screen tv would have been better than the small one thats there.Not worth the money we paid .Wasnt what i was exspecting for the price i paid.

wonderful cottage only 25 minutes to the coast. wonderful grounds, nice indoor pool and outdoor tennis courts. would stay again
