About this property

Resting in the quaint village of Frogmore paces away from Frogmore Creek in Devon is Alexander’s Cottage. This charming, dog-friendly cottage benefits from original character features including a thatched roof, exposed beams and stone walls, a feature fireplace, and a cottage garden, making it a homely setting for a family of five or friends looking to escape to Devon with their beloved pet. There are multiple beaches in close proximity allowing you to go for a dip or swim as you please. Also the opportunity to do some fishing at Slapton Sands Cross. Once you are back at the property after your activity fuelled day sit back and unwind on the plush sofas in front of the TV and the warmth of the electric fire’s glow while the designated chef of the group gets acquainted in the fully-equipped kitchen. Gather around the table to tuck in before stepping outside where you can climb the steps woven throughout the whimsical cottage garden to find the seating area at the top of the garden to sit and marvel at the encompassing hills. When the sky darkens, head back inside and climb the stairs to wash off the day in the sleek bathroom before catching your rest in the double, twin, or the single bedroom. Just a moment's stroll away lies Frogmore Creek, where you can launch your own canoes, dinghies and paddle boards, or if you’d prefer to stay on land, try a spot of fishing or crabbing, take a wander along the creek at low tide to investigate the bird life. Explore the village further and head to the Swell Devon Bakery to sample the pecan and almond flapjacks, whilst there is a selection of pubs for when you fancy a pint and a meal out. Alexander’s Cottage is well-placed for accessing local beaches, so remember to pack your swimming attire and head to the beaches of Torcross, Mill Bay, Gara Rock and Bantham. Take a scenic drive to the old town of Kingsbridge, home to a choice of independent shops, restaurants and pubs, plus there’s even a paddle boarding school if you fancy taking on a challenge! The charm of Salcombe lies to the south with its beaches and harbour, or travel north and discover Dartmouth, a lively town with high streets packed with shops and eateries, along with art galleries and local museums. Why not hop on board the Dartmouth Steam Railway and discover the beauty of the area from a different perspective, travelling to Paignton and Kingswear. Adventure awaits at Alexandra Cottage.

The picturesque village of Frogmore, located at the head of Frogmore Creek, is surrounded by stunning countryside and is just three miles from the pretty market town of Kingsbridge and a 10-minute drive from Slapton Sands, which makes it a fantastic holiday destination for those looking for a tranquil spot that’s in easy reach of a range of attractions. Walking from Frogmore to West Charleton along the water’s edge is a great way to see the creek before turning inland and heading north through West Charleton. This pretty village is well-known for its excellent bakery, traditional pub, beautiful creek and perhaps most of all, its village fete.

Very comfortable and cosy cottage with everything provided. A very acceptable welcome pack too. The location was great as good beaches, cafes, shops and other seaside places, eg Dartmouth, were within easy reach. The only negative comment was the busy road and speed of traffic you had to negotiate coming out of the cottage.

We booked very last minute as the weather looked good and the booking was really easy. Beds and sofas very comfy and WiFi was great (I had to work in the mornings so that was a relief)! No BBQ despite the listing and garden was very pretty but quite overgrown so top sections not very accessible - didn’t bother us as we were out most of the time. No toilet brush! We hadn’t realised there was no washing machine - normally not a problem as who wants to do washing on hols but as the weather was so hot it would have been good to be able to wash sand suncream and salt out of clothes - my husband didn’t bring enough. But we are too happy enjoying being to swim every day and enjoy the weather to care! And we could see it would be very difficult to install one due to space in the kitchen which was otherwise perfect and worked well… The little coffee shop along the road was great, amazing bread and a nice thing to have in the village. Will definitely be back - a quiet alternative to overpriced Salcombe accommodation! Thank you for letting us stay.
