About this property

Centrally located in the village of Hope Cove, Atlantic Lodge is an idyllic detached bungalow with uninterrupted coastal views. On the driveway, there is parking for up to three cars and a small boat (slipway 500yards away).

This attractive self-catering property will make you feel right at home as soon as you step into the open plan lounge/dining room. Decorated to a high standard, the living area has a cosy wall-mounted fireplace, smart TV and doors that lead out to the terrace. From the terrace, the view stretches from Hope Cove to Thurlestone, towards Plymouth and Cornwall. Dine al fresco from the terrace. Inside, a charming kitchen is equipped with an electric cooker/double oven, fridge/freezer, washing machine, dryer, dishwasher and microwave available. Door leads out to a side terrace with a drying line.

The master bedroom hosts beautiful views, a King-size bed, and en suite shower room with ‘Aqualisa’ power shower and w.c. The twin bedroom has two single beds, fitted wardrobe and units and a separate wash-hand basin. Bedroom three has a comfortable King-size bed with lovely views to wake up to. Finally, a fourth bedroom has a bunk-bed and chest of drawers, perfect for kids. As well as the en suite shower room, there is a family bathroom with bath and shower (over). A separate w.c., and basin in a separate cloakroom in the hallway.

In addition to the terrace areas, there is a sloping lawn with pretty flower beds, divided by steps leading down to the bottom of the garden.

The picturesque fishing village of Hope Cove lies in a sheltered bay on South Devon’s coastline, offering superb views over Bigbury Bay and Burgh Island. A choice destination for families, two beaches offer soft sand for sandcastle building, plus rock pools great for entertaining children. The town remains a fishing village where crabs and lobsters are still landed, however it was once used by smugglers. Many ships have perished around the coast and the wrecks that lie beneath the waves make it a popular spot for divers. Above the beach there are a number of pubs and restaurants, including the popular café bar ‘The Cove’. The coastal footpath can be joined from here and leads towards the sandy beaches of Thurlestone and Bigbury-on-Sea in one direction, and the sailing town of Salcombe in the other.

Superb views, good parking and easy access to the beach. Ideal for our family holiday.

Weather was great which helped. It was our second stay there so we knew it had spectacular sea views. The house itself is very welcoming and has everything you need. A small ask would be a clothes airer to put out on the patio or maybe a new washing line that is not against the wall. We would definitely book again, although we understand the house is about to undergo a major project - good luck with it :)

The beds were really comfortable and the en-suite shower was great. But we were really disappointed by the state of the windows. The house is in a position with stunning views but the windows were filthy and it was a real shame. Considering what it costs for a week- windows we can see through is not a lot to ask!!! We were fortunate to have some lovely sunny weather but trying to cook in a kitchen in full sun when there is no blind and a kitchen window you can't open made it a really uncomfortable hot and stuffy experience. Generally the house and pod could do with a bit of TLC
