About this property

Smurf house is the ultimate holiday home for groups of friends or family get-togethers, beyond that iconic yellow front door lies an interior full of colour and personality - an utterly joyful space.

The entire ground floor is wheel chair accessible friendly, with no steps into the house or out into the garden. Located in the heart of Malborough with Salcombe only a 5 minute drive away.

With its iconic yellow front door setting the tone for this fabulous luxury holiday home, Smurf House is the ultimate in interior design heaven.

Entering into the hallway, there are views through to the luscious garden, a curvaceous staircase calling you upstairs and to the left a beautifully wooden clad zone. This includes a snug for the kids to hide away and watch television, a very clever concealed utility room featuring a Miele washer and dryer combo.

Most importantly, the ground floor has a dedicated guest room (which can be set-up as either two singles or a super king) and en-suite for wheelchair users, or those less mobile. The en-suite shower room with beautiful deep green tiling has a dedicated built in heated seating in the shower, with brass grab & hinge rails. The whole of the ground floor of the house is wheel chair accessible friendly with no stairs or steps into the house or out into the garden.

There is a second ground floor shower room with gorgeous blue and star tiling.

The open plan kitchen, dining and living room which lead out to the garden are an absolute dream. The incredibly well-equipped kitchen will keep the chefs happy, and the split level island is perfect for wheelchair users to pull up to the action. Double dishwasher action means no-one should be stitched up with the washing up.

The dining area and living spaces each have beautifully custom made seating, and a wood burner in the living room means you can warm those toes on cooler days. One of our favourite spots is the dedicated gin bar; I mean what’s not to love?!

Climbing the stunning spiral staircase with gold leaf embellishments brings you to the first floor there are three king size bedrooms, two with en suite bath or shower rooms, and a double bunk room. Two of the king bedrooms have doors opening out onto a gorgeous decking area.

The double bunks (sleeping up to 4 children in full size singles) are another bespoke build adorned with Pooky lighting, and give children a wonderful place to enjoy their holidays on a mini adventure with friends, sibling or cousins.

Outside is set-up for fabulous al fresco living. Fire up the Rockbox pizza oven, or barbecue and enjoy being outside chatting with friends and family with a drink in hand. The 6 person hot tub is so much fun for the family, or provides a sanctuary for grown-ups to soothe away any aches or pains. At the bottom of the garden is yet another fab feature - the summer house with games room and TV for the kids to hangout.

Smurf House sits centrally within Malborough, equidistant between Hope Cove and Salcombe. Kingsbridge is only a few miles drive and provides a wider choice for supplies. Dartmouth, Dartmoor, Exeter and Plymouth are all within easy reach and will provide a plethora of activities, shopping, sight seeing and dining to cover all age ranges.

My family and I recently enjoyed a week-long staycation at the wonderful Smurf House in Malborough, and I cannot recommend this property enough. Set within picturesque surroundings among beautiful walking and running trails, Smurf House not only caters to the active holidaymaker but also to those seeking pure relaxation. The property’s location within close proximity to charming towns like Kingsbridge and Salcombe, beautiful beaches, and enchanting local beauty spots also makes it an ideal base for further exploration. Attention to detail and beautiful interior design choices shine bright at Smurf House, and the owners have masterfully blended style and comfort to create a relaxing and joyous environment. The expansive and well-equipped entertaining area downstairs provided ample space for family gatherings, while the beautifully landscaped garden offered a tranquil oasis ideal for our family barbecues under the sun. Moreover, outdoor activities available at the property, such as the hot tub and garden room equipped with a table tennis table and television, kept family members of all ages entertained throughout the day. Upstairs, every inch of this deceptively large property has been carefully considered to ensure a restful night's sleep and left us feeling refreshed and invigorated each morning. With an abundance of facilities available to accommodate a large family, this also meant that our morning routine was a breeze, setting the tone for a day of exploration and leisure without any stress or inconvenience. Smurf House offers convenience in the form of a designated car parking space directly outside the property, and, although limited to one car, we were pleased to discover ample free parking facilities less than a minute’s walk away at the local village hall, making our day trips around the area easy and hassle-free. There is also a well-stocked convenience store nearby, perfect for those essentials or last-minute provisions you may need. If you are seeking a luxurious retreat in the heart of Devon, then look no further than Smurf House; it’s a hidden gem waiting to be discovered, and I wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone.

5 stars out of 5 Our stay at the Smurf House was perfect. Devon kindly treated us to gorgeous weather but everyone agreed that had there been a rainy day or two everyone in our party would have been happy to spend a day indoors. The house was perfect for our party of 9. The ground floor bedroom and level surface provided a relaxing and stress free break for my parents. Every part of the house was beautifully decorated and well thought out. The kitchen is well equipped with plenty of crockery and cutlery which is unusual for a holiday let. The slide was enjoyed by all, including adults and the garden gave ample space for relaxing and sunbathing. We will definitely be back!

Everything was perfect, if we lived closer we'd be definitely renting again!!! The architect and the decorator really cared about every detail if that house, we can't fault it!
