16 Bolt Head is a well-appointed cottage in a peaceful and excellent location, close to beaches and coastal paths. It offers a comfortable stay with attractive furnishings and has been enjoyed by many for its quiet charm. Some guests have appreciated the responsiveness of the staff and the cleanliness has improved over time.
The property has received mixed feedback on cleanliness. Some guests found it clean, while others reported it not being up to standard upon arrival. The improvement in cleanliness was noted by a repeat visitor, indicating responsiveness to feedback.
The location is highly praised for its proximity to beaches and coastal paths, offering peace and quiet. The challenging access roads and parking issues are noted, but the location's natural beauty and tranquillity are significant positives.
Guests find the property comfortable, with well-furnished rooms and good standard bathrooms. However, some guests mentioned issues with soft beds and a lack of heating instructions, which affected their comfort.
Facilities have been a point of contention, with several guests facing issues with hot water, heating, and parking. The lack of entertainment options for children and outdated appliances were also concerns. However, some improvements like a new TV have been made.
While there are mentions of a card and gift for repeat guests, there is insufficient information to assess the overall thoughtfulness across all stays. It should be noted that such gestures are appreciated but not guaranteed.

Parking for no16 is for a small city car. We arrived in our BMW estate and parked it in any vacant space as it was a nightmare trying to park it on the slope as it sloped lengthways aswell as widthways which made it hard to get out as the door wouldn't stay open due to the angle of the slope. Luckily there wasn't many people staying at Bolt Head the week we were there so had a few spaces to use. The lanes leading down to North and South sands are narrow but manageable. Shame that South sands has no parking...not good if you have paddle boards or surf boards to use. We parked and used North sands but it got very busy. Winkle Cottage itself is lovely but needs a little maintenance doing. The spot lights in the lounge flickered so sat with lamps on. Some were loose in the ceiling and need sorting. Some guests have burnt the frying pans and need replacing.....we found some cobwebs around the cottage but mainly it was a dust issue in the double bedroom...the skirting boards beside the bedside tables was bad and the lampshade on main light needed dusting aswell as the same lampshade in the twin room. Apart from those little niggles the cleanliness was great. Sofas could do with updating....not over comfortable.

It is a comfortable place with enough room for all of us. We again enjoyed the new smart TV! The main issue is the lack of recycling facilities. Bolt Head Ltd said this was because the council insisted on everyone having four bins. So I have written to the council asking if they could change this to allow a sensible number of bins for the complex. Otherwise, I had to take our recycling to the recycling litter bins at the beach. I also spent some time liaising with Alan Sykes trying to get the EV chargers to work which eventually we did!

We had driven almost 10 hours to get to the house and upon arrival realised we would need to spend out first hour on holiday cleaning the house. All of the freezer drawers were filled with crumbs, there were balls of hair everywhere behind the doors and generally I just dont feel it had been properly cleaned. I reported this to the Syke Cottages however never received any response. The pillows in the bedrooms desperately need replaced too - I am not 100% sure they still constitute as pillows anymore they are so slim. They also dont provide the bare minimum toiletries most people have become used to having when renting something like this. Just a simple shampoo and conditioner is all most people expect but there is nothing at all. The above sounds terrible, and we actually had a really nice time and the house was generally fine but I would rather give an honest opinion so you know to bring your own pillow, and hopefully so the agent who is letting this house can sort out their cleaning team.
