Seagulls is a well-loved cottage in Salcombe, praised for its great location and stunning views. Guests appreciate the comfortable rooms, multiple bathrooms, and social outdoor spaces. While some find the property homely and well-equipped, others note areas for improvement in cleanliness and maintenance. The lack of parking is mentioned, but the property's central location is a highlight for many.
Cleanliness has been a concern for some guests, with reports of the property not being properly cleaned upon arrival, including a specific mention of a hairball found on the floor.
The location is highly praised for its stunning views and central position in Salcombe, despite some challenges with parking which is not uncommon in the area.
Guests find the property comfortable overall, with multiple social areas and a usable kitchen. However, there are comments about the beds being uncomfortable and the property feeling tired in places.
The facilities are appreciated, such as the extra shower room and utility, but there are also reports of dated bathrooms, odd furniture arrangements, and issues like a BBQ gas running out.
While welcome packs were mentioned positively, there is insufficient information to assess the consistency of thoughtfulness in terms of gifts or special touches, and they are not guaranteed.
Just steps away from Salcombe Harbour’s cafés, boutiques, water sports and more, Seagulls is ideal for those looking to be in the heart of town. Spread over three storeys, Seagulls is a traditional property with views across the water towards Whitestrand on one side and access to Fore Street on the other. The passenger ferry to East Portlemouth and South Sands is just minutes away.
An open courtyard at the front of the cottage leads you into a kitchen/diner. The kitchen has a 5-ring gas range with double oven and grill, dishwasher and fridge, whilst the dining area invites you to gather round its large table seating 8, to plan adventures and enjoy hearty meals. Enjoy alfresco dining? To the front of the property is a courtyard with dining table, chairs and barbecue with private steps that give direct access to Waterfront. On the 1st floor is a lovely sun terrace accessed directly from the sitting room.
Downstairs is also a utility room with fridge/freezer, tumble dryer, microwave and sink, with a washing machine located in the ground floor shower room.
Relax in the cottage’s ground floor lounge where there are 2 double sofas, or sit outside on the terrace. Move to the second floor for another cosy sitting room, again with 2 sofas and flatscreen TV, as well as wicker chairs positioned with views across the water and rolling countryside.
The property has 4 bedrooms; the master en suite has a bath with a shower above. It has 2 single beds pushed together and access to a sun terrace with outdoor chairs. On the top floor are 3 dormer bedrooms, all with views across the estuary. Please note: these rooms are accessed by a curved staircase which is narrow and steep. The first bedroom is a king, with the other 2 being twin rooms. One twin has 2 small single beds (2’6”), whilst the other has full sized single beds.
The 3 dormer rooms share a bathroom on the top floor, with bath and shower (above). There is also a shower room ideally located on the ground floor, as well as a w.c and sink.
Enjoy relaxing days around the harbour or adventure filled days sailing Salcombe’s waters in this Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. What more could you want?
Salcombe is a popular destination for watersports enthusiasts, walkers and families looking for a holiday by the sea. Some parts of the house are tired with odd furniture configurations. The main bedroom (we think) with 2 twin beds for example. Unfortunately, the house wasn't particularly clean on arrival and infested with bugs. Other little details like the BBQ gas running out on the first go and disappointing and cause a frustration on holiday. If these issues can be sorted, we would recommend. The agent was responsive and kindly sorted us a parking permit but didnât really address any other concerns fully. Especially as we felt we paid a premium, sadly, wasnât a premium stay.

Seagulls has the perfect location to enjoy the best of Salcombe and has an amazing amount of useful space We were fortunate that the sun shone all week and we could make full use of the outdoor spaces The house is very comfortable without having the feeling that you need to watch what you do all the time incase you damage anything The biggest problem with the house are the stairs They are not suitable for very young children or older people and virtually impossible for anyone with access issues Overall I would recommend seagulls and look forward to coming back in the future

Not high end fixtures and fittings but comfortable. I love the views. A bit of a pain to load and unload due to limited parking and difficulties in turning round. Love some of the upgrades (downstairs shower room) and the views. Would love to have come back but the price has been so hiked this year (as have many in Salcombe) I'll be staying elsewhere instead
