Lower Court House in Salcombe is a well-received holiday cottage, praised for its cleanliness, spaciousness, and high standard of finish. Its central location is ideal for enjoying the town, though the hill and steps may challenge some. Guests appreciate the warm and welcoming atmosphere, with a particular fondness for the airy living room. Some concerns were raised about the lack of outdoor space, certain amenities, and the comfort of the sofa.
The property is generally described as clean, with one instance of a delayed cleaning service on arrival. The overall impression is of a well-maintained space.
The central location is highly praised for its convenience, though accessibility may be an issue for some due to the hill and steps. No outdoor space for morning coffee is noted.
The property is considered spacious and welcoming. However, some guests found the sofa uncomfortable and had issues with the windows not opening, which affected their comfort.
Guests are pleased with the overall standard but have mentioned the lack of a microwave, coffee machine, smart TV, and hairdryer. The electric hob's functionality and the small fridge size were also concerns.
There is no mention of gifts or special thoughtful touches in the reviews, so it is not possible to assess this category.

E. both the hob and the clothes drier were broken when we arrived, although the hob was replaced during the week we were there and we received a small reimbursement for the inconvenience it caused. The general maintenance of the property was poor. For example, the front door hinges were rusty making the door stiff to open and noisy (we oiled the hinges); the gate at the top of the steps wouldn't open because of overgrown ivy making it dangerous to carry bags and receive food deliveries down the steps (we cut back the ivy); the fridge bulb was broken (we replaced it) and the fridge portion froze at the rear affecting the food; the benches for the dining table had loose and missing bolts making them rock and squeak when you sat on them and would have eventually collapsed (we tightened the bolts that were there). We also found that the property wasn't suitable for seven adults for two main reasons (i) the upper twin room had no storage for clothes and very limited room for suitcases and (ii) the fridge was too small to accommodate the fresh food required when eating evening meals in the property. We hope this constructive feedback helps and please let us know if you have any questions or comments.

It proved impossible to get through to Coast and Country or Sykes via telephone so we walked to the Island Street office. Staff were very apologetic and the property was cleaned by 6pm. We were however, pleasantly surprised by the decor and upstairs bathroom on arrival as it appears the on line photos have not been updated for several years. We were however disappointed with the level of equipment in the property. The glasses and crockery selection was poor for 7 people and there was no coffee machine, cafetière, microwave or even a hairdryer in any of the 4 bedrooms. We were also disappointed with the lack of a smart tv or bluetooth speaker. It didn't meet our expectations of a Sykes/C&C 5 star property that we have stayed in previously

Clean, spacious, warm and welcoming, so we had a lovey blend of walks, meals out and then all on the couch for movies at the cottage. We were so lucky to have glorious weather mid Sept and the only thing we did miss was an outside space to sit and have a coffee in the morning (though there are plenty around the harbour). Many reviews mention the hill to the cottage and also the steps down the the main door. We agree that for people with small children, or anyone with walking difficulties this could be an issue. But we loved it - it was amazing for us!
