About this property

Tucked away on the outskirts of Salcombe is this characterful, terraced abode, Oyster Cottage. A pet-friendly cottage in Devon, the property welcomes families, friends and one well-behaved pet to discover South Devon AONB. Be welcomed by three designated parking spaces to begin your holiday with ease and follow a pretty path to your cottage entrance. Kick off your boots in the porch and settle into the sofas of the open-plan living/dining room; the space has been thoughtfully appointed with cottage-style furnishings, a smart TV and woodburning stove set in a beautiful stone fireplace. Set the dining table for six whilst the designated chef gets acquainted with the kitchen and its excellent amenities, including an electric oven and hob, fridge/freezer, dishwasher, and coffee maker. Throw your sandy towels or walking gear in the handy washing machine, before climbing the stairs to freshen up with a hot shower or bubble bath in the bathroom. Suitable for families or friends, Oyster Cottage has three tasteful bedrooms; a king-size and a double have storage space and white-washed, stone feature walls, whilst the bunk bed accommodates two. During the summer months, you'll have a peaceful, pet-friendly back garden to dine alfresco on the patio, play with the dog, or climb the stone steps to find a secluded lawn area to sit and listen to the birdsong. When it's time to venture out, the heart of Salcombe is nearby to taste local seafood at Crab Shed Salcombe, stop for a pub lunch at the Victoria Inn, or if you prefer to stay in, plenty of shops and artisan delicatessens to stock up on the essentials. There are many local attractions including Salcombe swimming pool, the National Trust's Overbeck's Gardens, and a number of golden beaches dotting the coast such as North or South Sands. In an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, be sure to embark on a coastal walk for spectacular sea views, abundant wildlife, and plenty of picnic opportunities to make the most of the great outdoors. If you're looking for more attractions, spend the day in the market town of Kingsbridge with its pretty estuary, or explore the many coastal villages such as Hope Cove, Thurlestone and Bigbury. There is something for everyone to enjoy! Whether you're looking for a bustling resort or relaxing along a secluded, sandy bay, Oyster Cottage is your home-from-home in Devon.

Salcombe, formerly a significant port, is now a popular resort for walkers and families searching for a seaside vacation. North Sands and South Sands are two lovely beaches within walking distance, and further on is the National Trust property Overbeck's, where you may explore around the subtropical gardens. Why not spend a more adventurous day and try out some of the activities offered on the estuary, such as surfing, kayaking, or taking a relaxing boat ride?

A great place if you want to explore the area and then stay in at night. The cottage is situated at the bottom of a long narrow single track lane. Ok if you’re used to driving/walking down similar tracks but a bit of a white knuckle ride hoping that you don’t meet cars coming in the other direction if you’re not, we did. Very few if any pull in points so it’s reveres down the long track. At night there is no lighting apart from the occasional house and again even though it’s only 20/25 min walk it is steep and very dark. If you’re staying in Autumn/Winter months and out walking back after dark take a torch.I don’t want this to be negative as we had a great time and loved the cottage but it needs to be clear about location and access. Also to note if you’re using satnav it doesn’t get you there, once it says you’ve arrived keep going. It’s about another 5/10 mins down the track.

We loved our stay at Oyster Cottage and would happily return . Perfect for 2 couples or a family ( sitting room sits 4 ). Located up a quiet lane and enjoyable walk to Salcombe .

If we ever book through your company again then we will most certainly insist on an inspection with yourselves when we take over to avoid anything like this happening again. Sending photos of the damage does not prove who did it, it just shows that someone has caused the damage.
