Perched on a tranquil rise above the rugged South Devon coastline, Saltwood is a modern Scandi-inspired sanctuary where wide-open skies meet the endless blue of the horizon. A stone’s throw from the wild beauty of the South West Coast Path, this newly designed lodge offers a front-row seat to some of the region’s most dramatic scenery, with sweeping sea views to one side and the rolling moors of Dartmoor unfurling behind. Days drift between sandy-toed adventures to Soar Mill Cove, coastal rambles to Hope Cove or Salcombe, and slow afternoons spent watching the light shift over the landscape from your private balcony.
Inside, Saltwood’s calming palette of natural textures, soft wood and handcrafted touches creates a cocoon of understated luxury. The open-plan living space with a cosy woodburner, invites families and friends to gather, warmed by soft coastal light and anchored by views that pull you towards the sea. A beautiful functional kitchen complete with a Green Egg barbecue outside for memorable al fresco suppers, makes entertaining easy. Sleeping up to six, the accommodation has been designed for all generations: playful bunk beds for younger explorers, a twin room, and a serene king-size bedroom with ensuite for restful nights after days on the coast. Dogs are warmly welcomed, with open countryside and endless walking routes right from the door.

Saltwood instantly captured our hearts, offering a beautiful blend of new luxury and laid-back coastal charm that felt tailor-made for our family escape. This remarkable lodge provides the perfect balance of spaciousness and cosy comfort, and each morning we wandered onto the coastal path, winding our way to the breathtaking Soar Mill Cove, a little slice of paradise we’ll never forget. Afternoons brought a short drive into Salcombe for a touch of shopping and a proper cream tea, before returning to Saltwood for evening drinks on our private balcony with sizzling sausages on the Egg barbecue, whilst drinking in the sweeping sea views ahead and the moors rising gently across the horizon.
