Abbots Ash is a detached Grade II listed cottage tucked away down country lanes five miles from Bigbury -on-Sea. Originating in the 15th century and later owned by Nelsons family, it combines traditional beams and features with wonderfully contemporary and stylish comfort and chic. As soon as you head up the steps and into the hall, you will feel right at home, especially when you turn into the vast lofty open plan living area which stretches the length of the cottage. Snug within lime washed walls, it offers a comfy seating area beside the cosy wood burning stove, a study area with desk and French windows to open to the garden on a sunny day.
At the other end is the excellent kitchen and dining area, all beautifully equipped and a sociable space with breakfast bar. On this ground level are the three calming bedrooms. Take the stairs up to another amazing reception area, a sitting room with another wood burning stove and more comfy seating. Behind the cottage is a charming enclosed garden with lawn and a prettily planted suntrap courtyard with seating area. Despite its peaceful location, this cottage is in a central location for an assortment of brilliant sand and surf beaches on a spectacular coastline where you can go rock pooling, surfing, walk the Coast Path and play golf.
If you want to eat out, the nearby village of Aveton Gifford has a pub, or you can head to Kingsbridge town for a choice of shops and restaurants. Abbots Ash is truly an exceptional holiday destination in the heart of the stunning South Hams.
Beautiful Bigbury-on-Sea is ideal for family holidays. Dusted with sand and lapped by shallow waters, the beach offers safe fun for children and adults alike.
