Chudleigh, a historic wool town in Devon's picturesque Teignbridge District, is a wonderful day trip destination any time of year. There are relics from the town's Saxon past, such as the names of streets and landmarks, as well as more recent ones, like the caverns at Rock and the Iron Age hillfort that overlooks it. There is a wide variety of services and facilities available to visitors of Chudleigh, including two pubs, an English restaurant, supermarkets, specialty boutiques, and more. Located between the towns of Dunsford (in the north) and Chudleigh (in the south), the Teign Valley is a stunning, steep, wooded valley on the eastern slope of Dartmoor National Park. Christow, Lower Ashton, Higher Ashton, Dunsford, and Hennock offer tranquil getaways with breathtaking views of the surrounding countryside, complete with rolling hills, verdant fields, winding rivers, and picturesque thatched cottages. A walker's delight, the area around Chudleigh offers breathtaking vistas. If you're in the mood for something more strenuous, there are plenty of options in the immediate area. You might go rock climbing, kayaking on the River Teign, mountain biking, or even trekking. Visit the historic seaside resort of Dawlish for a day of fun in the sun and family-friendly activities, including the renowned beautiful black swans, which can be seen at The Lawn and Brook. Visit the historic city of Exeter and take in the sights of the Gothic cathedral, Exeter Castle, and many more attractions. The city is surrounded by magnificent City Walls. If you want to see both the shore and the countryside of Devon, Chudleigh is the best option, as it is close to the Dartmoor National Park and the exciting cities of Newton Abbot, Torquay, and Paignton.

However, there were a few problems which would make me think twice about visiting again, which is a shame, since the location and general facilities are very good. Your website listing stated two toilets, but I was contacted after booking to say there was only one. For potentially six adults, this was inconvenient. The one twin room contained a bed with drop sides, which would be great for a disabled person, but the bed was extremely uncomfortable. Also for the first 5 days of our holiday there was no internet. If we’d known the internet was patchy, in advance, we would have downloaded books to read etc prior to arrival.

We did a two of the walks, blue and brown, although there had been a couple of weeks of dry weather some of the parts of the walk were a bit muddy so wear appropriate footwear

This did not exist. One of the reasons for booking was that there were two loos and as there were 6 of us, only having one was not suitable. The website needs updating to accurately reflect the facilities. There weren’t any bins in the wet room and shower room and a shelf in the wet room would have been useful, especially for people like myself with mobility issues. Apart from that , everything else was fine. Lovely location and great facilities. Staff were very friendly and helpful.
