Oakhurst is a well-loved cottage in Devon, praised for its comfortable furnishings, well-equipped kitchen, and beautiful location. Guests enjoyed the proximity to local amenities and the welcoming touches from the host, Maddy. While some minor maintenance issues were noted, the overall sentiment is positive, with the property providing a delightful base for exploring the surrounding countryside and villages.
Most guests found the property to be clean and well-maintained, though a few mentioned cobwebs and a need for a deeper kitchen clean. The overall impression remains positive, with the cleanliness meeting the expectations of the majority.
The location is highly praised for its beauty and convenience, with easy access to local shops, pubs, and scenic walks. The village of Lustleigh is a highlight, and the property's views are appreciated, despite some comments on narrow access roads.
Guests consistently mention the comfortable beds and homely feel of the property. The house accommodates various group sizes and is suitable for families and pets, contributing to a comfortable and enjoyable stay.
The property is well-furnished with a well-stocked kitchen and additional amenities like books and games. Some guests noted issues with the shower drainage and a Saniflow system, suggesting room for improvement in maintenance.
The host's thoughtfulness is evident through welcome packs and treats for both guests and pets, contributing to a warm reception. While these gestures are greatly appreciated, it's important to note that such personal touches, although likely, are not guaranteed for every stay.

The house and quality of the bedding, towels, etc. is very good. We have stayed here twice and are sorry not to be able to return if the house is sold.

Very spacious but homely with comfortable beds, well-equipped kitchen & many added extras, such as: childrenâs & adultsâ books, games & wine. Beautiful location with glorious views though tricky to navigate narrow lanes. Quiet and so peaceful. We loved staying here with the family and Maddy was such a help with baby safe guarding equipment for 1 and a half year old. Must mention beautiful Lustleigh which had superb friendly village shop including pizzas on Thursdays & excellent food at The Cleave pub.

This was definitely a negative for us. The kitchen could do with a thorough clean as there were cobwebs everywhere. The shower and toilet on the first floor makes an alarming noise when used, presumably this is a Saniflow system. The shower does not drain well either. There was a smell of sewage from the drains. Whilst at the property I received notification from Sykes that the cost of renting this property was reduced for future bookings, which I found rather annoying, having paid full price. We enjoyed being in Lustleigh and will probably return in future, but not to Oakhurst.
