Guests say

Chapel Cottage is a charming, characterful retreat in a peaceful village on the edge of Dartmoor, ideal for walkers and those seeking a cosy getaway. Guests consistently praise the comfortable beds, well-equipped kitchen, and inviting log fire. The cottage is clean and homely, with thoughtful touches and a tranquil atmosphere. While a few minor maintenance issues and small towels were noted, the overall experience is overwhelmingly positive, with many guests eager to return.

The cottage is generally described as very clean and cosy, with clean linen and towels. A few guests mentioned minor cleaning oversights, such as crumbs in the fridge and a dirty washing machine seal, but these did not detract significantly from their stay.

The location is highly praised for its proximity to Dartmoor, local walks, and a great pub. The peaceful village setting and easy access to amenities and attractions are frequently highlighted.

Guests repeatedly mention the exceptionally comfortable beds and sofas, as well as the cosy atmosphere created by the log fire. Some noted small towels, but overall comfort is a standout feature.

The cottage is well equipped with everything needed for a stay, including kitchenware, toys, and books. Minor issues such as squeaky beds, loose curtain poles, and maintenance on doors and the garden gate were mentioned, but these did not majorly impact enjoyment.

Some guests appreciated welcome touches like milk, biscuits, and wine, though a few found the welcome pack a little meagre. Please note that such gifts are not guaranteed with every stay.

Very well presented and equipped cottage. Very quiet. Good local pubs and farm shop. Very close to Lydford Gorge but had to drive a bit to get to other points of interest.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Chapel Cottage, it was exactly as we expected. We loved the charm and style of cottage and period furnishings. The lovely little garden area was ideal. We were able to walk our dog directly from the property and also stroll to the lovely Castle Inn. The property was spotlessly clean, the bed was very comfortable and bedding was good quality. The only tiny suggestion is that a grill pan and maybe a flat baking tray would be useful but apart from that from that every other piece of kitchen equipment you might need is provided. All in all an extremely well equipped property and we can highly recommend a stay here!

The Chapel cottage is lovely, you feel right in the middle of Dartmoor. Very quiet apart from the birds but it was lovely to see them in the garden. It was a real home from home for us. Our dog loved the garden and the field at the back of the garden. Though not sure if he was supposed to go in there, but he's a spaniel!!. Looking forward to visiting again.
