Chapel Cottage is a charming, characterful retreat in a tranquil village setting, perfect for walkers and those seeking a peaceful getaway. Guests consistently praise its cosy atmosphere, comfortable beds, well-equipped kitchen, and proximity to local pubs and Dartmoor walks. The cottage is clean and welcoming, with thoughtful touches and a lovely garden. Minor issues such as small towels, occasional maintenance needs, and garden security for dogs are mentioned, but overall, visitors are delighted with their stay and keen to return.
The cottage is generally described as very clean and tidy, with fresh linen and well-presented spaces. A few guests noted minor cleaning oversights, such as crumbs in the fridge or a dirty washing machine seal, but these did not detract significantly from their overall impression.
The location is highly praised for its peacefulness, proximity to Dartmoor, local walks, and a great pub. Guests appreciate the charming village atmosphere and easy access to both nature and amenities.
Guests frequently highlight the comfort of the beds and sofas, the cosy atmosphere, and the warmth of the fire. A few minor points were raised about squeaky bed bases and small towels, but overall comfort is a standout feature.
The cottage is very well equipped, with a well-stocked kitchen, toys and books for children, and all essentials provided. Some minor maintenance issues (e.g., door bolts, curtain poles, TV size) and the lack of a shaver socket were mentioned, but these were outweighed by the overall quality and completeness of the facilities.
Guests appreciated thoughtful touches such as milk, biscuits, and occasionally wine on arrival, as well as cosy throws and a well-equipped pantry. Please note that these welcome gifts are not guaranteed for every stay.

Very well presented and equipped cottage. Very quiet. Good local pubs and farm shop. Very close to Lydford Gorge but had to drive a bit to get to other points of interest.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Chapel Cottage, it was exactly as we expected. We loved the charm and style of cottage and period furnishings. The lovely little garden area was ideal. We were able to walk our dog directly from the property and also stroll to the lovely Castle Inn. The property was spotlessly clean, the bed was very comfortable and bedding was good quality. The only tiny suggestion is that a grill pan and maybe a flat baking tray would be useful but apart from that from that every other piece of kitchen equipment you might need is provided. All in all an extremely well equipped property and we can highly recommend a stay here!

The Chapel cottage is lovely, you feel right in the middle of Dartmoor. Very quiet apart from the birds but it was lovely to see them in the garden. It was a real home from home for us. Our dog loved the garden and the field at the back of the garden. Though not sure if he was supposed to go in there, but he's a spaniel!!. Looking forward to visiting again.
