Excellent property for a large family weekend away, very well equipped, everything you need is there. Great outside space and garden.

Went with family and friends to celebrate my husbands birthday - 8 in total plus dog. Plenty of room for all of us especially having our own en-suite. The lounge was comfortable but probably would have made the dining area more of a dining area. The downstairs dining room we never used. It would have been better as a games room. The kitchen was fully equipped but then enough. The outside was its USP. The gorgeous and cos we had great weather it was fab to sit out there when we could. In some rooms the showers were as good as others but overall it was a lovely place to spend a few days. I would have like to have left at 11 and not 10 to enjoy a last breakfast but that’s just me. The host was very helpful when required. I would like to return hopefully in the summer month so that we don’t have to pay extra for heating.

Fernlea was a perfect venue for our holiday. The house is beautifully furnished, clean, spacious, comfortable and warm (we paid the extra for the heating to be on). The kitchen and dining room were brilliantly equipped for cooking our own meals and there's plenty of fridge space. The decor, cushions, rugs, furniture, and art on the walls are all really lovely and we appreciated the whole style of the place. We didn't put any of the televisions on, or even play any music, but there are TV's in all bedrooms and the lounge, and music speakers in lounge and dining room, had we wanted them.We were lucky with the weather so could enjoy the garden and the excellent location for coastal and rural walks. We loved the big tables to all sit around as a group, both in the garden and in the dining room (the dining room is colder but a portable heater warmed it up enough for us to eat down there). There are multiple sets of keys so it wasn't a problem if people wanted to go off and do different things. Great to have a bus stop just at the end of the lane, and a great pub with live music within walking distance in a neighbouring village. About half the showers didn't work but it was great having en suite bathrooms to each room. Baths are in each, and those wanting a shower shared the ones that worked. There were some problems getting answers to questions prior to the holiday which was the only thing that didn't work out about the booking process. But none of the things we were enquiring about turned out to be a problem. We totally loved our stay at Fernlea and had already booked to go again next year before we'd even left the property. In case others need to know - the stairs down to the dining room in the basement are quite steep but solid. There are stairs up to all bedrooms. Those with tall head height or mobility issues would be best avoiding the two 2nd floor attic rooms. All the stair cases are solid, closed, and the one up to the bedrooms on the first floor is wide, with a bannister, and just has a small area of curving around to the landing at the top. With care, my fairly wobbly 92 year old father managed okay to go down to the dining room and up to his first floor bedroom and enjoy a couple of days with us.
