The microwave is old and you cannot time it in seconds, only minutes. There is an odd mix of old and new furniture and artwork, and the same with crockery and kitchen equipment, and there aren't enough large mugs. There are dozens of old books, but nothing you'd actually want to read. Basically, it just needs a good clear out, to get rid of all the old stuff because the new stuff is good. And repaint the bathroom door properly, instead of tacky touchups. It's like someone started a renovation and gave up halfway through. The shower needs a curtain because the whole area, including the toilet, gets soaked. Also, there is a huge lobby, but nowhere to hang coats. Some hooks on the wall or a hat stand would be useful. A washing line outside would be useful too, and would save electricity. These are small points though as generally we had a great, relaxing time in this beautiful part of the country. I would definitely return and recommend to others. We appreciated the very quick response when the toilet flush got stuck - within hours someone came and fixed it. And the person on the phone was polite and efficient.

We understand how dusty rural homes can become and how many more insects and bugs come into the house but Hollycombe Cottage needs a good clean. There were cobwebs around the toilet that had been there weeks, a lot of window frames hadn't been cleaned for sometime with cobwebs seen. This really let the place down because it's a lovely holiday home and most of it was clean, tidy and good quality. It has a great location for the area between Bridport and Lyme Regis and also boasts some really good country walks directly from the house. You will need an up to date Ordnance Survey map to take advantage of this, perhaps the owners could get one for the cottage? When we stayed it looked like either the shower hose connection to the shower unit or the shower unit itself was starting to leak. Despite the minor criticisms we would recommend Hollycombe Cottage as a place to stay. It has a lot going for it and would be a 9/10 or 10/10 if it came into close contact with a duster periodically.

Well appointed, canât think of anything that was not provided for an enjoyable stay. Would happily come again for another holiday.
