Guests say

Old School Retreat is a spacious and characterful cottage in a peaceful village setting, ideal for families and groups. Guests praise its excellent location for exploring Dorset, comfortable beds, and dog-friendly garden. The property’s unique features, such as high ceilings and original windows, add charm. While most found it well-equipped, some noted areas needing deeper cleaning and minor maintenance. The owner is responsive and helpful, and thoughtful touches like welcome gifts have been appreciated by some guests. Overall, it offers a memorable and enjoyable base for a Dorset holiday.

Many guests found the property reasonably clean, but several reviews mention issues such as dust, crumbs, stained carpets, and areas needing a deep clean, particularly in bathrooms and the kitchen. While not a major concern for most, a few guests were disappointed by the standard of cleanliness.

The location is highly praised, with guests appreciating the peaceful village, proximity to Dorchester, Weymouth, and the Jurassic Coast, as well as the convenience of a well-stocked local shop and pub.

Guests generally found the cottage spacious, warm, and comfortable, with good beds and living areas. Some mentioned firm or low beds and minor issues with seating, but overall comfort levels were high for families and groups.

The property is well-equipped for most needs, with a large kitchen, garden, and ample space. However, several reviews mention the need for more kitchen utensils, glassware, and some maintenance to appliances and furnishings. A few guests noted the lack of an upstairs toilet and minor issues with blinds and shower pressure.

Some guests appreciated thoughtful touches such as welcome gifts and treats, though these are not guaranteed. The owner is described as approachable and responsive to issues, enhancing the overall guest experience.

What a delightful place The Old School conversion, able room for our 2 families with 3 children and a dog. Puddle town is situated between Dorcester and Weymouth with easy access to many places on the Jurassic coast. We thoroughly enjoyed our week with great weather and thankfully not a hot a recent times. We will consider visiting again.

Despite initial issues, quickly sorted by owner, we had a lovely stay.Property is well equipped, and enough seating for all guests. An upstairs toilet would have been good for guests but the bathrooms downstairs are great. The garden is dog friendly, although an outside light would make a great addition on dark nights and mornings. There's a lovely village shop for anything you need and it's a short drive for a supermarket.Parking for 2 vehicles.A great base for exploring the stunning coastal resorts.
