Nestled in the heart of Dorchester, overlooking the county museum and historic Highstreet, is this charming dwelling, The The Town House. Dating back over 500 years, The Town House welcomes families and friends looking for a central location in this bustling town, with easy access to pubs, restaurants, shops and attractions. Internally, the property is set over three floors and enjoys two sought-after off-road parking spaces. The ground floor is comprised of a small entrance lobby, while the first floor offers the first of the bedrooms, with a sumptuous king-size bed (no bathroom). Continue to the second-floor to reach the main living quarter; the kitchen comes well-appointed with contemporary appliances and fittings, so you can easily prepare home-cooked dishes. Pop open a bottle of fizz and set the dining table for a feast, before loading up the dishwasher and heading to the sitting room for a TV catchup; large bay windows overlooking the town provide a quaint sitting spot for people watching. You will also find the family bathroom on the second floor with stand alone bath and walk in shower. The top floor houses the final two bedrooms, including a king-size with en-suite shower and a twin, both neutrally presented with traditional features and furnishings to retain the age old feel of the building. Just opposite lies the Dorset Museum, which features exhibits on the history and culture of the area, while also nearby is Maiden Castle, a hillfort that is among the largest and most complex in Europe. Dorchester has two railway stations, and also connects with the Jurassic Coaster bus service, ideal for people who want to walk a section of the South West Coast Path. The town is home to a selection of pubs, restaurants and takeaways, so there’s plenty of choice when you don’t feel like cooking. Take off to the seaside town of Weymouth, offering a number of attractions, including the SEA LIFE Centre Weymouth, Weymouth Harbour and Sandworld Weymouth. Enjoying a central position in the county town of Dorset, The Town House promises a holiday full of interest and adventure.
Without seeing the market town of Dorchester, with its Roman roads, museums, and variety of pubs and restaurants, a journey to Dorset would not be complete. Visit the County Museum, which contains a display dedicated to Thomas Hardy, who was born only two miles away in Bockhampton, and take a lovely walk around Maiden Castle, the biggest hillfort in England. Weymouth's beautiful beaches and harbour are only seven miles away, as are Portland's mountainous peninsula, which is connected to the mainland by Chesil Beach and is a part of the stunning World Heritage Coastline. Beautifully furnished, comfortable and well equipped. Located perfectly for exploring Dorchester on foot. The welcome hamper, with quality products, was very much appreciated. Comfortable beds and bedding. The street noise was sometimes a bit distracting during the night but all in all a very enjoyable stay. Some minor issues for your information; the en suite bathroom sink was very slow draining and the main bathroom's door handle is very loose. After some heavy rain water leaked through the second floor landing window.

Thank you for the wonderful hamper, which was so generous and very delicious. All the beds were extremely comfortable and the bedding was heavenly. The only point to make is that the top bathroom sink kept getting blocked, with the water rising up. We were out all day and didn't want to haul you in to fix it, but you may want to take a look. Probably just needs a good plunger. Anyway, thank you again so much, and we'll be back!

When we arrived we were very pleased to receive the welcome hamper - a lovely little touch - and to see what a lovely, clean and spacious house it was. The light in one of the bathrooms wasn't working but after a quick email the maintenance man came and fixed it before we had even gone out which we were very impressed with. The house was spotless when we arrived and there was everything we could possibly need for our comfort. Older guests might prefer the downstairs bedroom as there are a lot of stairs to the en suite at the very top. Car parking was fine, one car behind the other, and we made sure we reversed into them at the end of the day to make exit easier as the main car park was usually quite busy. No problem though - just very good to have the two spaces. Very easy to get to the shops and restaurants in Dorchester and a very good base to see the Jurassic coast. We would highly recommend The Town House as the owners had put so much effort into making their guests comfortable and we had a wonderful stay there with our family. Thank you so much.
