A nearby coastal path winds around Portland’s miles of remote Jurassic Coastline, ideal for sea fishing, and within easy reach is the Georgian seaside town of Weymouth, with its Blue Flag beach, Sea Life centre and rspb nature reserve. Windsurfing, diving and yachting are popular in the area. Shops, pubs and restaurant within 300 yards.

Our party of 4 adults and dog all enjoyed the stay at Pebbles. It has everything you need. We had 2 cars but the free parking for up to 72 hours at Masonic car park by Chesil beach worked fine. Just changed cars twice in week. Must be prepared for steep hill the cottage is on especially if you want to walk up to local shop. Only fault no bin for recycling or guide to nearest drop off. Provided wheely bin obviously struggles to cope with 2 weeks rubbish. So much to see locally and good weather meant we did not travel far. Nice rest.

Pebbles was an ideal multi generational place to stay. Lots to do in Portland but also in the surrounding area. The road down to the cottage was very steep but luckily we never encountered anyone. Parking for the additional car was fine on the near by street but we struggled on the last day as the holiday season picked up. The host was very accommodating contacting me that we could enter earlier and to check our first night went well. Food around was less available than weymouth. Definitely plan in advance for the local pub if you go in the busy time as it was fully booked every night but we managed a lunch which was very worth it.

This is a lovely big 3 bedroom cottage with a small courtyard garden on a very narrow steep road. When we stayed it was very hot weather and the bathroom windows wouldn’t open, we informed the owner and was told ‘oh maybe they’re broken we’ll get them fixed asap which we thought meant during our stay, this didn’t happen and we got the impression that they’d been in that condition for a while so it was very hot and uncomfortable in there. Also the shower screen and mirror were quite dirty and quite a bit of dust around the house ie lamps and tops of wardrobes when we went to store luggage on top. Also had to scrub clean a garden seat! Apart from these few disappointing findings (which you don’t expect when you’re paying over a £1000.00 a week) it’s a nice property, personally we wouldn’t stay there again.
