Humbug House has been renovated to a high standard in 2023 and offers home from home luxury comfort in the fabulous Forest of Dean. Walks can be had straight from the front door into the forest. The spacious open plan living room is perfect for entertaining friends or family. The underfloor heating on the ground floor will keep your toes toasty and warm. The living room leads to an enclosed garden perfect for letting your four-legged friend out for some fresh air. There are three bedrooms, each with luxury bedding, and the master bedroom has en-suite facilities.
There are many attractions in this area including miles of very scenic footpaths straight from the front door. You’ll never be at a loss for something to see and do in the Forest of Dean. With the natural environment, fascinating history and heritage, and an array of attractions and activities are to be had here. For cycling enthusiasts, there are 33 cycle trails for all levels. There are many activities and days out to be had, such as Symonds Yat rock, Puzzlewood, Clearwell Caves and Coleford with its Great Western Railway Museum.
Humbug House provides the perfect location for visitors with pets. The Dean Heritage Centre, Dean Forest Railway, Tintern Abbey and the Soldiers of Gloucestershire Museum are all nearby. Alternatively, visit the English Heritage’s Goodrich Castle, National Trust Round House and Naval Temple. There is good fishing, rspb reserves, riding, golf, tennis and excellent walking and cycling opportunities locally. Ross-on-Wye, Chepstow, Monmouth and the cathedral cities of Gloucester and Hereford are within easy driving distance. Lovely stay for 2 adults and 3 children. The only thing I would comment on, and it is a small thing, is that the top three stairs creak incredibly loudly. If you have light sleepers, it could cause an issue. Otherwise, the house is perfectly equipped in every aspect. Peaceful location, beautiful area and very short driving distances to all the local attractions. As an aside, very few takeaways deliver here. We would definitely stay again!

We had a lovely stay. The house is very well presented. Don't be put off because it's modern. It was on a cul-de-sac of about 10/12 other houses, in a peaceful and beautiful location. You can walk out the front door and be in the woods acros the road. Soudley is a quiet and pretty village. We would recommend

Das Haus ist ein Traum und wir haben uns gleich wie zuhause gefühlt. Die Austattung ist kaum zu übertreffen. Angefangen von sämtlichen Küchenutensilien und Geräten, über Decken im Wohnzimmer bis zu hochwertigen Betten und Bettwäsche. Alles ist makellos sauber. Das komfortabelste Haus, was wir bisher in England hatten. Die Kommunikation mit 'Cottages' ist eigentlich nicht vorhanden und besteht nur aus Standartnachrichten. Auf Fragen wurde gar nicht reagiert. Um so beser ist dann die Kommunikation mit Sue und Brett, welche schnell und unkompliziert geantwortet und auf unsere Frage reagiert haben. Ich würde das Haus jederzeit wieder buchen und kann es uneingeschränkt empfehlen.
