Easy reach of the wider Cotswolds, including Cheltenham, Bristol and Bath. Rathlin Cottage is perfect for family and friends seeking an idyllic escape to the Cotswolds. This beautifully converted barn is well appointed throughout and sits prettily within its own plot. Spaciously converted it makes for the perfect holiday base for touring and exploring the Cotswolds as it sits right on the edge. Set over two floors, this stunning accommodation offers a living/dining room, downstair bathroom and utility room. A cosy living room complete with a feature wood burner and a sunroom with direct access to the garden. Upstairs there are two double bedrooms and a twin room along with a family bathroom. Outside there is a spacious garden, perfect for garden games, also included is garden furniture and a barbecue, perfect for those days when you feel like dining al fresco.
Should you feel like rambling the local area, running beside your wonderful abode is a local footpath perfect for a scenic walk. Within 10 minutes from Rathlin Cottage is Berkeley Castle, the Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust at Slimbridge, the Arboretum at Westonbirt and many National Trust properties. The thriving market town of Tetbury and two riding centres are also close by, plus Stinchcombe Golf Club. The major attractions of Bristol, Bath, Gloucester, Cheltenham, Cardiff, Malvern, and the Forest of Dean are all less than an hour’s drive away. Just a 30-minute country drive away is Stroud, this bustling town has a bohemian vibe with independent shops, eateries and markets. The locally renowned Salt Bakery bread and croissants, and wonderful Eleon olive oil are a must for your basket. With all your yummy produce, why not pack up a picnic and head to Coaley Peak with its fabulous viewpoint looking out across the Severn Vale and out to Wales. On a good day you can see the Black Mountains in Wales, the Malvern Hills and the Suger Loaf. Pub ½mile and restaurant ¾mile.

A beautiful and spacious cottage in a fantastic location for exploring beautiful Gloucestershire. The cottage was spotlessly clean on arrival and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The cottage has a big, off road parking area that can house at least 3 cars comfortably and a big, fully enclosed garden which is great for dogs and kids alike. There are even pygmy goats and donkeys just over the fence which was a lovely addition. Just one thing to note, next door's dog is quite barky so if you have a dog-reactive dog then you may want to take this into consideration.

We were very disappointed with our stay at Rathlin Cottage. We chose this property specifically because it advertised a tumble dryer(now removed), as we were arriving straight from a cruise as a family of five with a large amount of washing. Unfortunately, there was no tumble dryer, despite it being listed as an amenity.We also found that the microwave switched on but did not heat food. The owner did eventually replace it, but only after we contacted Cottages.com because we were unable to get hold of them directly. Throughout our stay we found the owner very difficult to contact and only received a response after involving Cottages.com. Unfortunately, we found the communication to be unfriendly and, at times, hostile, which made an already stressful situation even more unpleasant.There were also an excessive number of air fresheners placed throughout the cottage (we counted around 25). The fragrance was extremely overpowering and our daughter began coughing while we were in the property. Another issue for us was that the owner entered the private garden each day to water the flowers while our children were playing. While we appreciate that the garden needs maintaining, we hadn’t expected someone to enter what was described as a private garden during our stay, so it didn’t feel particularly private.The neighbouring dog barked whenever our children were in the garden, making it difficult to relax or enjoy the outdoor space.The listing also mentions a footpath running beside the cottage. We attempted to use it, but found it to be badly overgrown and effectively impassable. One of the stiles had barbed wire stretched across it, so we were unable to continue the walk.We actually chose to move to another property partway through our holiday so that we could enjoy the rest of our break. Sadly, we would not return or recommend this property.
