Guests say

The Oak is a well-received cottage offering comfortable accommodation and a good base for exploring local attractions. Guests appreciate the well-equipped property, comfortable beds, and thoughtful touches like festive decorations. The working farm setting provides an interesting backdrop, though some note disturbances from farm machinery and road noise.

Guests consistently describe the property as clean and well-maintained, with one review specifically mentioning it was 'spotless'. The high level of cleanliness contributes positively to the overall experience.

The location is praised for its proximity to tourist attractions and ease of access to Bath and other sites. However, some guests find the nearby busy road and farmyard disturbances to be drawbacks, affecting the tranquility expected from a cottage setting.

The property is frequently described as comfortable, with reclining sofas and comfortable beds noted. The layout is suitable for guests with mobility issues, and the private garden is appreciated. Road noise is a concern for some, but not all guests.

Facilities are generally well-regarded, with a well-equipped kitchen and good shower rooms. The identical layout of bedrooms and bathrooms for couples is a highlight. However, there is a mention of blocked shower plugs, indicating a minor maintenance issue.

While guests mention a welcome pack and Christmas decorations, which indicate thoughtfulness, there is not enough information to assess consistency or guarantee of such gestures across all stays. Therefore, a score cannot be provided.

We had a fabulous stay here between Christmas and New Year. On arrival, we were greeted with a lovely and unexpected “welcome pack,” which was greatly appreciated. Check-in was seamless, and the property itself was beautiful. The Christmas tree and festive decorations were a wonderful touch that made the stay feel extra special. The location is ideal for exploring the area—we enjoyed a day in Bath followed by a trip to the Cotswolds. Having read some other reviews, I was surprised because we didn’t hear any road noise at all and weren’t disturbed by farm activity. In fact, it was lovely to step into the shared garden and take in the view of sheep and the sound of cows.We brought two dogs and were pleasantly surprised by how well they were accommodated, with towels, food bowls, and blankets provided. The only downside was an issue with guests in the neighboring property who didn’t follow the rules about keeping their dog on a lead or cleaning up after it. Unfortunately, this unsettled our dogs and led to my child stepping in excrement that wasn’t from our dogs. That said, I contacted the owner, and they responded promptly and addressed the issue. The beds were very comfortable, and the showers were always hot. Towels were a little small, but they did the job and saved us from having to pack our own. The heating was effective which was great as it was very cold out during our stay. Overall, we had a wonderful stay and would happily return and highly recommend!
