The peaceful hamlet of Watledge is true quintessential England and steeped in history. The cottage shares its name and sits opposite the former watering hole Shears Inn . Nailsworth, once an important Cotswold mill town and now a unique shopping destination, boasts a wonderful selection of independent shops, cafes, delicatessens and arts and crafts to suit all tastes along with a fine selection of pubs and restaurants showcasing local food and ales. Watledge sits at the bottom of three large commons and The Cotswold Way passes nearby for keen walkers and cyclists, along with the historic canal with towpaths meandering through the valleys into Stonehouse. Visit the vibrant nearby town of Stroud, voted the best place to live in England 2021 and renowned for its farmers market. For those looking for a little more adventure there is the Cotswold Gliding Club offering day courses. Water sports at the Cirencester Water Park, Gatcombe Park for enthusiastic eventers, Westonbirt arboretum, Bath, Badminton, Tetbury and Cheltenham for the races, theatre and seasonal festivals including the renowned literature, food and jazz festivals to name but a few.
