Situated within its own plot in a small hamlet, on the outskirts of the village of Mark, Somerset is this Georgian style property, Cherry Tree House. Providing easy access to the Somerset Levels and the seaside amenities of Burnham-on-Sea, Cherry Tree House is an ideal base for families and friends looking to escape normality, unwind and enjoy the peaceful countryside setting, with many local attractions and activities close by. On arrival turn into the gravel drive, follow around to the rear of the property and park on the private brick paving area. Enter the property via the rear door into the kitchen, where you can start to become familiar with your new ‘home from home’. Step into the spacious drawing room and make yourself comfortable on the sofa, think about and plan your adventures in the week to come or catch up on your favourite TV shows or enjoy a tranquil moment with your favourite book. Carry the conversation into the kitchen where your designated chef has the responsibility of whipping up something for the group, with a connecting breakfast/dining area seating for four guests; there is also a separate dining room for hosting dinners with the entire party. French doors lead to an outside space where you can relax on the outdoor furniture whilst the children play on the secure grass and patio areas, plus there is a barbecue if you wish to enjoy some alfresco dining. The bedrooms are situated upstairs and include the master with king-size bed, fitted wardrobes and an en-suite shower room. There are also a further 4 bedrooms – a king-size, a twin room, a room with bunk beds and a single room. Completing the interior is the family bathroom where you can laze away with a soak in the bath or hop in the walk-in shower for a quicker option. On one side of the property there are views of acres of fields and countryside and there are many local walks with footpaths leading off across the fields from the doorstep. In the neighbouring village of Watchfield there is a huge rambling old country pub ‘The Watchfield Inn’ where you can enjoy a pint after a long walk. Across the road from the pub is Rich’s Cider Farm Shop and Restaurant where you can visit and sample all the different ciders, plus there are many other excellent local pubs and restaurants in neighbouring villages. The market town of Highbridge offers a choice of shops ranging from supermarkets to retailers, or head to Burnham-on-Sea, a classic seaside resort, with its unspoilt sandy beach and vibrant pier. Just down the coast is the National Trust location Brean Down; a 97-metre-high down with views out over the Bristol Channel towards South Wales and over the Somerset Levels. Further attractions to consider include the Apex Leisure and Wildlife Park, Cheddar Gorge and the Wookey Hole Caves, and the Mendip Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, a must for those keen walkers. Cherry Tree House will make a wonderful holiday home, whatever time of year.
Only two miles separate the little market town of Highbridge from the coastal resort of Burnham on Sea, which is located on the edge of the Somerset Levels. The varied delights of Somerset with its own culture and history are best explored from Highbridge. Enjoy the local pubs while exploring the Somerset Levels, the Quantock and Mendip Hills, or the coastline pathways. This region also offers a number of world-class golf courses. The Willows and Wetlands Visitor Centre, the well-known caverns of Cheddar Gorge and Wookey Hole, as well as the historic Wells Cathedral in England's smallest city, are all easily accessible by car. In this region of Somerset, there is enough to interest everyone.

It's clean, comfortable with a nice garden and has good parking. Owners are friendly and helpful. It is in a lovely area and close to lots of places to visit. We had a great meal at nearby Rich's Cider and some nice walks in the evening from the house to Watchfield Inn and The Beer Shed. We would all love to stay here again.
