  • About the property

Majestic and luxurious the Old Rectory is a Georgian-period property that can sleep up to twenty two people making it the perfect place to enjoy with friends and family. An ideal place for an intimate wedding with its Orangery which can seat 50 guests or as a corporate venue with break out rooms and complete privacy. In the summertime enjoy lazy afternoons by the pool (between May and October), a spot of tennis, football or a civilised game of croquet followed by a dip in the hot tub. Bicycles of varying sizes are on hand to help you explore the grounds. The property includes seventeen acres including some beautiful gardens and local wildlife.

In the winter the property is equally as spectacular with roaring fires, hearty meals and drinks in the snug awaiting your return. There's plenty to entertain on a rainy day too with a pool table, home cinema and games room to keep you entertained.

    The space

On the ground floor and through the stone flagged reception hall you will find four rooms to explore, from the magnificent dining room to an impressive farmhouse kitchen with its four oven Aga. The gorgeous country kitchen has an electric oven as well as the Aga and is equipped with everything you can think of to create a sumptuous feast. Get all the family involved around the central island or just meet for a mid morning coffee and read of the papers. Where better to enjoy the feast you have created than in the formal central dining room, complete with elegant table and chairs and wood burner for the chilly nights as you gaze out of the traditional sash windows. The Orangery suitable for larger parties is here to and just off to the right lie two reception rooms - a snug with sofa and armchairs fireplace and large TV and an elegant drawing room also with fireplace and seating. In addition to all of this is the basement where you will find a three quarter size snooker table in the games room along with table tennis and darts.

From the beautiful wooden staircase you reach the first floor which has four of the eight bedrooms. All four rooms are individually designed en-suite rooms with views of the garden and surrounding countryside. The master suite being extremely impressive with its own magnificent bath and shower. On the second floor are the remaining four rooms, two family bathrooms and the generous sized snug. These rooms have lower exposed beam ceilings giving a more cosy feel and views across the Blackmore Vale. A combination of sleeping arrangements can be accommodated from doubles to twins with cots available for the little ones.

Outside you will find wild meadows, a small lake, beautifully kept gardens with terraces for BBQ's and al-fresco dining for all to enjoy. With an abundance of flowers and plants in the south facing gardens why not pull up a seat and admire the surrounding whilst indulging in some afternoon tea and cake.
