Located on the boundary of Lincombe Woods, you are within walking distance of Wellswood village shops, woodlands, meadows and beaches. Meadfoot Beach is closest and arguably Torbay’s finest. With its southerly outlook and clean blue waters, it deserves its reputation as one of the region’s best. Wellswood village is a ten-minute woodland walk away (or two minute drive) and is a charming area of Torquay. Everything you need for day-to-day living is here including a pub, small supermarket, ATM, restaurants, cafés, pharmacy, post office, patisserie, salons, barber, wine bar and village pantry amongst others.
The local dog-friendly pub is known for its good food, sunny beer garden and friendly atmosphere. The village is the birthplace of crime writer Agatha Christie, home to Kents Cavern Caves and was where The Gleneagles Hotel inspired John Cleese’s ’Fawlty Towers’. The apartment is a ten-minute drive to the marina, harbour and main Torquay shopping areas. The Garden Flat offers a cosy, warm winter let too, and many guests return to enjoy an off-season ‘English Riviera’ winter break. Beach ¾ mile. Shops, pub and restaurants ½ mile.

The property is really lovely, all you need for a lovely stay. The view from the property is absolutely stunning, spent many an evening just sitting outside enjoying the glorious view of the valley below and sea beyond Easy access by foot to lovely local coves and beaches. Ansteys cove is really lovely and not busy , with great cafe. The only downside is the WiFi its pretty bad, streaming impossible ( the owner did reset the router, which did help a bit, but still only 0.5mb and time delay huge) and the TV is pretty much unusable due to portable Ariel We had next to no mobile signal either (3 Network) We also had a young family staying in the apartment next door, and you could hear shouting etc But overall we still had a great timeCommunication with host excellent But very poor with cottages.com you have to call them as messaging doesn’t get a useful response

We booked this apartment specifically because the listing stated it had a fully enclosed, private garden where pets could roam freely. As owners of a reactive dog, this was the main reason we chose this property.Unfortunately, this wasn’t the case. The garden is shared. Our dogs were easily able to get to next doors flat and even ran into the neighbouring apartment. On another occasion, the neighbours’ children left the main gate open, meaning our dogs could have escaped altogether. It made the stay quite stressful, as we couldn’t simply let them outside as advertised and instead had to keep them indoors much of the time with the door shut.Because of this, we actually decided to leave a day earlier than planned. It’s a real shame because the location itself is fantastic and exactly what we were looking for. I would suggest installing a secure gate across the entrance to the neighbouring flat and making it clearer in the listing that the garden isn’t fully secure or completely private for dogs. That would help future guests know what to expect.
