Dunley barn is an excellent place to base your holiday it is in a small village without a shop at present but only 4 miles from a world of shops at Salisbury there is a post office that might sell bits and pieces The heat wave was ongoing when we went so it was very warm inside but we are on planet earth and there are plenty of fans to hand and if you follow the owner’s advice it’s OK it’s also pretty good for stargazing if you’re into that sort of thing The owner does leave a welcome basket but I would take something to eat if you intend to make a meal or go for a pub meal at the silver ploughWe would be more than happy to recommend it to anyone

Absolute fantastic accommodation and location. The barn was spotless and very well equipped, plus a lovely welcome pack. Tea, coffee, sugar and milk supplied so you can put kettle on as soon as you arrive. The beds were very comfy. It's on the edge of a lovely village so the only noise was from the wildlife. We sat for hours watching birds of prey. Lots of lovely walks direct from the barn. The pub is just a 10 min stroll away. Matthew and Julia a lovely couple and are on hand if needed. Highly recommend Dunley Barn and will be returning there next year.

This barn is a lovely place to stay with all the equipment you could need. The pros:It is clean and comfortable. The beds and bedding are good quality. The sofas and chairs are comfortable. The bathrooms are great. The owners have thought of absolutely everything you’d need by way of equipment. There was nothing extra we needed. The sitting out areas at the front and back allow for birdwatching and peace and quiet. It is the nicest accommodation we have stayed in in the UK.I thoroughly recommend it when the weather is not too hot.The cons:The weather was extremely hot when we stayed for two weeks. Although fans had been provided, it became quite unbearable inside the barn in the daytime. At night, the upstairs bedroom was too hot to sleep in, despite opening windows and running fans. This was the only downside and couldn’t have been anticipated by the owners. The barn is painted black on the outside and I wonder whether if it was painted white and there were better window coverings (eg shutters) it might help make the property cooler in this increasingly hot weather we are having. The owners were friendly and although we didn’t need any assistance during our stay, we felt they would help if needed.
