Thatched Cottage in Saxmundham offers a unique and charming experience with its quirky features and expansive garden. Guests appreciate the property's comfort, well-furnished spaces, and the helpfulness of the owner. The cottage's location is ideal for exploring Suffolk's coast and local attractions. While there have been some maintenance issues, the overall sentiment is positive, with many guests looking forward to returning.
Most guests found the cottage to be well-kept, with no concerns about cobwebs in such an old property. However, one mention of soiled bed linen, which was promptly addressed, slightly impacts the overall cleanliness perception.
While the reviews positively mention the location's proximity to local attractions and its serenity, there are not enough specific details to accurately score the location.
Guests consistently describe the cottage as comfortable and cosy, with a lovely garden to relax in. The annex is noted as particularly suitable for those less able to navigate the quirky layout of the main cottage.
The property is well-equipped and guests enjoy the log burner. However, reports of broken fridge parts, non-functioning lights, and an oven needing repair, along with power cuts, suggest some issues with facilities and maintenance.
The owner's helpfulness and the provision of items such as torches during power cuts demonstrate thoughtfulness. Gifts like Prosecco and homemade marmalade were mentioned and appreciated, though such gestures are kindly noted as not guaranteed.

We stayed in early December and the cottage was lovely, well equipped and in a great location for exploring the Suffolk coast. Unfortunately there were several power cuts throughout the week of our rental. The owner kindly sent over some torches which were a great help as candles and naked flames are not permitted. Eventually we cut our losses as both cooking and heating became an issue and returned home a day early. Hopefully this was a one off and the electrical issues are soon resolved.
