The sand-and-shingle beach (less than 350 metres from your front door) is popular with dog walkers, swimmers, kite surfers, canoeists and surfers. There are also great walks from the village towards either Southwold (1.5 miles) or Dunwich (6 miles). A regular foot ferry runs to Southwold, another fabulous destination with a lovely beach backed by colourful beach huts, boutique shops, galleries, restaurants, and an Edwardian pier. The timeless seaside town of Aldeburgh is 15 miles away, and Orford is 22 miles away, where there’s a 12th-century castle, internationally important nature reserve, and variety of fine food shops.
